    OP i had a question.
I have the 2016 model taco which didn't come with the passenger side mats with the retention holes, and so my passenger side doesn't have the twist and turn locks/fitting already in the carpet/floor.
Is this something anyone has upgraded/installed into their passenger side of their trucks, so that they could buy the newer all weather mats which have this?
I guess what I am asking is, is it possible for me to buy the necessary twist and turn lock from stealer ship, and install it into my truck so that I may buy newer OEM all weather mat which has the retention holes.

what I see more often than searching for the retention locks is people just plugging the retention holes. Flex seal tape on the bottom over the holes has been one method used.

Also, you might look for clips on Ebay or Amazon. Like these
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XS3TFL1/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_TbPeEb9694GP9

Or there are other ones, cheeper/free delivery or whatever.

I did this on my 2016. I bought the newer mats with the passenger retention holes and added the OEM clips. Now looks factory compared to the ebay ones I originally had on my 2016 mats.

Wow. I was half hoping somebody would reply to this with this exact response.
Was it easy to install the OEM clips into the carpet/floor of the truck? Did you have to drill? How did you secure them to the floor? Was it screw on? Did you have to buy a second full set with the retention holes or did you buy only the newer passenger side mat from tw market place?
I bought OEM mats without the retention holes, made my own, bought aftermarket clips and they still don't sit secure just like your experience.
    Edit:
The part numbers you sent me, are they for the OEM clips? Is it possible to buy ONLY the passenger side mat with holes for retention clips?

Why don't you want the buyer to have any protection if you don't send the mats? Kind of messed up, they can't get their money back using friends and family if you decide to not send the mats.

They can always add the 3% for goods and services. Guess I should have added the option. I am highly reputable selling on here and believe everyone should do their due diligence before buying from anyone on the forums. But you are right, it should have been an option and I just edited the posting to reflect it.

To answer your questions, yes, it was easy to install. I placed the mat on the floor in the position it would be, marked the direct center of the hole where the clip would be, i took off the door sill molding and lower pass dash panel. You need to cut a squareish hole to fit the new clips where you made the mark. It has 2 pieces, the lower part is white and the top with the rotation is black. I used a utility knife and started with a smaller hole then got bigger so i didnt cut too much. The two pieces snap together and only attaches to the carpet. The carpet itself had a hard plastic backing so it keeps the clips from moving around. I lucked out and found a guy selling just both front mats on Craigslist from his 2019 Access Cab with A/T (fits same as DC) because he bought Weathertechs for the front and kept the rears. The part number for the clip and bottoms are OEM replacements. I had the ebay ones that screw in on my 2016 mats, but they were not flush due to the plastic screw hitting the metal floor. I dont think they sell just the Pass Mat, so you will need to find someone selling on here or Craigslist.

    Good luck!

Would you separate just the front mats? My rear is in mint shape but I need to replace both front ones. Let me know.
