Yah probably. I think the oil cooler and horn is fine actually after measuring. My only concern would be piping from the top of the intercooler back into the truck from such a high location. Possible? Sure. Looking forward to pictures of people getting it done.

 

I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but I would guess you will need premium gas to achieve these numbers and higher octane regardless at all times? On other turbo cars I've had it was recommended but not needed. Or am I way off on this one? Thanks and God bless

 

Premium is required, yes.

 

The intercooler would likely needed to be flipped with the pipes inlet and outlet coming from below. Either way everything from here is speculation until we get them home and mock it up. I don’t have a winch bumper yet, but I think I will attempt to relocate the IC to behind the grill right off the bat at install. I’ll be sure to take pics of everything.

 

Agree with you . If its flipped should only need to have the inlet and outlet cut and turned to proper angles to fit back into engine compartment.There maybe other tweaks like the horns but should be able to be done! Keep the ideas coming!

 

question for you guys. I'm going to be doing a tow test with the powermax setup at the end of this month towing 5500+ lbs, and wondering if you guys had any recommendations on brake controllers for these trucks.
Looks like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 is most popular, but wanted your opinions.

 

The Tekonsha is junk just because it’s bulky and doesn’t fit anywhere cleanly. Get the RedArc tow pro elite. It’s a small round dial that fits into a spare accessory switch left of the steering wheel.

 

That what I run, works well. Mounted in the cubby left of the steering with with the ESP mount.

The other one worth mentioning is the one from red arc, it’s nice because you can hide pretty much everything except for a button.

Tekonsha is perfectly fine. I run it with zero issues at all. It’s only downfall is the size compared to something that can mount low profile.

 

I would LOVE to see a test like this with both turbo set ups. The stock truck/tune provides "workable" power for 4k trailers. I'd really like to hear impressions on what the small set brings to the table. My guess is that it will be just what this truck needs for loads below 5500.

This option allows you to completely hide/remove the controller when not in use. The controller plugs into a DC/lighter receptacle and the "box" is installed on the trailer. Indeed you can use the same controller on a dozen vehicles (with the same trailer).

Also, would love to see towing results with the smaller kit but it seems you’ve pulled those and have the big boys in now.

fumbling around for my phone to trying to apply the brake seems like a terrible idea.

The base kit will perform just as good, I have no doubt about it. Think about it, a Ecoboost 3.5L has no problem whatsoever towing 5500lbs, and it's the same size turbos as the base kit.

 

I have the tekonsha P something and it’s good but as many said it’s bulky. Dang that RedARC is slick, I’m gonna dig into it a bit

 

I don't tow often, so I didn't want a permanent install. So I got the P3 and just velcro'ed it to the dash. I'm short, so leg clearance isn't an issue.

I like the P3 over the Redarc, because it has more settings, memory and a screen to show you exactly what is going on.

 

Interested in the towing results with both systems. Kudos to @OVTune for not just cranking out a product and dealing with this kind of stuff in the backend !

 

I haven't seen this yet but with all this extra power, which is without a doubt exciting, has anyone looked at how much Axle Wrap is going on and addressed that? I'm assuming there's going to be more.
Also was trying to see if there's any way to benchmark how much a manual trans can handle as far as Torque / HP to ensure that it's also operated within certain safe limits...but I can't find a specs sheet for the RC62F trans other then the gear ratios....

 

Agreed, the RedArc has a pretty simple interface but it’s all there once you learn it.

Dial to set the maximum engagement.

Select either proportional or fixed braking.

Glowing light background tells you activation strength.

Color of light tells you which mode.

And of course there’s manual mode should you choose it.

I’m sure they all do a decent job of controlling, it’s just a matter of picking your interface.
