The the worst feeling was just that some asshole (there were 3 assholes) was in my house touching my stuff. Most of the things were replaceable, that’s what insurance is for.

We got an alarm after that, but that ended up being more a pain in the ass, since the only times it went off were false alarms.

 

That's the worst feeling dude, it feels like it never goes away.

I don't wish that shit on anyone.

 

Our damn alarm has gone off during thunderstorms and that’s it. So many wasted calls for the police. (It has to do with the steel framed house and it setting off the glass breakage sensors.)

 

I have a script that systematically goes through albums and downloads the pictures at the highest quality (unfortunately PBs highest quality is like 1024x768 because their shit is from 1999) but it is designed to get you away from their garbage service so you can be free.

See, Chicago was awesome for that. I've found some quality gear due to garage sales, even divorces, on craigslist.

Think one of my cheapest come-ups was an Adcom 555 and Adcom Preamp (forget the model) for like $50.

We’ve since moved. Mostly because the schools were shit, and the high school had metal detectors, lol.

New neighborhood, I live at the end of a dead end, and if you would would have come to my place for that bumper fab, youd have to get through “mean Gene” (he’s like 90, but spunky and knows *everything* that goes on around here) and the 2 other retired vets. We have a pretty good security service, lol.

 

chicago does have a great vintage audio scene.

That's one thing I really miss.

It's only because of Chicago that I got big into the audio scene; I had 2-3 different sets of Magneplanar speakers when I first got into them. Even had Tympani D's and those are big ass mother fuckers.
