I just finished watching it again.
It's pretty dark, despite the moments of comic relief.

Of the 3 Vietnam movies in the poll, I think FMJ is the best one.
The war as seen by Private Joker.

The others strike me as a little pretentious.
Like they were trying to make THE Vietnam movie.
Though there are memorable scenes in all 3.

I wasn't quite old enough to be in it.
Though I know many who were.
The draft ended two months after I registered.

What I remember is the turmoil and the change (for the worse) in the country's mood.
