I had envisioned this setup in my head and on paper. I really liked the functionality of the KB Voodoo tonneau bed rack since it is somewhat easily removable in order to access the entire bed with a cover. I, however, already have a Bakflip cover installed in my truck and did not want to change it out. When KB Voodoo announced that they will be doing a Bakflip bracket, i was excited. However, when it got released, it’s only for a max modular rack. Which in my case, I don’t want because you still don’t have 100% functionality of the bed/bed cover as you can only open the first fold 3/4 of the way. So i tried to make both work. With some modifications, home fabrication and a LOT of determination, i finally have it done and it works how I planned it to be. Will still need some TLC but it will do for now!

Care to share what was involved in this and the parts needed.
    Thanks.

Yeah I'm curious too. The back left upright looks a little "askew". Might be a camera lens thing.

Since the Bakflip runs on a relocated rail, I needed to make an adapter so that it can be bolted on the relocated rail. I used some 3/8 steel flat bar, 3/8 steel square tube and some nuts, bolts and washers. A LOT of patience is required for it to be able to fit in the small gap that is available in between the OEM bed rail and Bakflip cover rail but it works. Below are pics of the bracket that i made and the pictures of it bolted on the rails.

Hope this helps to anyone who want to run the same setup.

It is a bit “askew”. I’m still trying to square things up and play with whatever small space I have in between the top bed rail cover and bakflip cover rail.

PS: @kbvoodoo this might give you an idea to make a legit bracket for the bed rack. This way I will have a legit bracket lol

It looks like it still sits on the rail so I wouldn’t think the strength would be compromised any. Nice work.

We have all the dimensional data that we need to make the Hi Rise Crossbars compatible with BakFlips, but it seems like most BakFlip owners want a full bed rack.

Guess I’m one of the few lol. The Hi Rise fits my needs rather than the full rack. I really like the concept behind it. Great product IMO.

Thanks OP, this is the direction I want to take my truck. Have to ask, how do the rack bracket affect the weather tightness of the bed cover? My OE cover does a good, almost great, job of sealing out rain.

How old is that KB Voodoo part? It looks like the powder coating failed or it is rusting?

I will assume that it will not be as good. I can see spots where water will enter. I plan on putting some silicone in it to keep the water out. I think that’s the only way you can get out of it.

Yes, the powdercoat has peeled already and there are some rust spots. I plan on having them re-done in the future but wanted to make sure that I will have to make it work with the cover first before investing in it more.

What cover do you have? I was told by KB Voodoo that it would fit with the cover I have (Gator Evo bi-fold) but it isn't even close. Serious modification to my bed cover brackets would be required to make it fit, let alone keep any sort of weather-proofness. Also they have a 25% restocking fee so you are pretty much stuck with the hi-rise bars/brackets unless you want to hand over $100 for not keeping it. Caveat emptor, I guess.
