I finally pulled the plugged and brought my Tacoma up into the 21st Century. Wanted to stream music and use Andriod Auto. Cost about $600. The wiring and such was a bit more than the Pioneer Unit. Take your time and read the instructions!!

Get yourself a Harbor Freight 100watt soldering iron and shrink tubing. You won't use all the harnesses/wires from below but keep them. Took me about 8 hrs. I ran the backup camera through the floor where the parking brake cables go through. There was a nice rubber stopper in a hole no one was using (very nice).

The steering wheel controls seem a bit sporadic. Will need to do some research. May have mistaken a zero for an "O" in the serial number. Will research that later but all works.

Pioneer Unit (anyone will work but this one seemed to have the best combination):

Trim (re-use the mounting brackets with the radio):

Interface so the steering wheel controls work and plugs into the ODBII reader. Expensive but worth it:

Harness to link to the Tacoma and Mestro:

    Instructions (helpful):

    Backup Camera (a must):

Parking Brake Bypass (so you can use Andriod Auto without the parking brake on):

Steering wheel controls now work. I had a plug in the w/b when it should have been in the aux. Nothing should be in the w/b. Digging the vehicle info screens from Maestro - plugs into the OBDII port.

    Nice!!

Android Auto and the streaming music make it all worthwhile. Erased all need for me to buy a new truck.
