Prepping the truck for a Sierra run to Laurel Lake 4WD trail near Mammoth Lakes! Woot! Forecast calls for snow flurries! Need to get some non-freezing windshield fluid....

Installed a small Wagan 200w inverter in the ash tray cubby to charge camera batteries, iPod/phones, etc.

    Changed the oil and filter.

This is only the second time I have done it on this truck (1st gen).

FYI new 1st gen owners, the first time I went through the wheel well to get the filter, similar to my old 93 pickup.

This time I took off the skid plates and got the filter from underneath. I think coming from underneath is easier and faster, FYI.

I had no idea what kind of oil was in the truck when I bought it, but I put in Mobil 1 full synth on the first change. This second change is 5k miles.

Also grabbed an oil sample to send to Blackstone to see:
    1. What is going on inside the engine.
    2. See if the synthetic knocked any crud loose.
    3. See how well the Mobile 1 full synth held up (at 5k) and start examining the possibility of longer oil change intervals (7,500 to 10k, eventually).

through the wheel well? that must've been hard. :notsure:
kinda sucks having to take the skid plate off, but it's worth it having that 'protection'.
