Manerites, does anybody here have a good engine flush/trusted products suggestions? Trying to get my wife's beetle to stop burning oil so quick before we sell it.

 

All the wiring and construction this weekend did me in I guess. Tried to do a bunch of cleanup there also yesterday.

 

Careful, a flush may just increase the oil consumption by knocking all the crud that's sealing it up now.

 

Mmmm so how does one go about getting a car to stop burning oil? I used to seafoam my 01 dodge ram back in the day and it seemed like it helped a lot. I knew there were some skeptics about seafoam but I didn't care much about that truck to begin with.

 

I am not a fan of "snake oils" most of the time a leak will only get worse by doing something like this instead of a proper fix. If the engine is burning oil past the piston rings nothing in a bottle will fix it that is just my .02

 

Try Bluedevil oil stop leak, I ran this in a Chevy I had that had 290k when it started burning about a QT every oil change it reduced it to about half and stopped the morning cold start smoke out the tailpipe.

I have had some luck with Bluedevil stoping coolant leaks but not oil leaks.

 

Truck wasn’t leaking just burning oil but stopped the smoke show on start up.
My steering rack is currently leaking slapped some Lucas PSF treatment in it drops have slowed to a seep also.

Didn't you lose some of the assist? Like the steering got harder?

 

Didn’t lose but firmed it up like it has more pressure I prefer this feeling.
