Ha. Want me to grab some part numbers?

On a side note I’m pretty sure mine is working fine now. No issues with the kit except my connector difference. I’m pretty sure that I forgot to connect a plug inside the mirror.

As others have said it was pretty nerve wracking doing the first side. I think my first one took me 4-5 hours. The passenger side took me an hour and I didn’t need instructions. The diy kit isn’t had to install at all. Just a bit scary as you are taking every thing apart. Who would have known how many parts a mirror has.

It sure is nice to have them able to fold. Helps parking in my garage and now I fit in with the Mercedes at work.

    Yes please. Thank You!

Here is your wire diagram btw. This is the only one I have on my phone. I don’t have your Pin #3 and #13 on my phone. I’d have to get it off my computer, but I’m pretty sure it’s your Lock and Unlock Wires. I’ll figure it out maybe tomorrow if I have time just so you know. I need the connector part no please. If you actually can get me a pic of the front of your connector, that is what my vendor needs. The picture you posted with the wires is from the backside, so I need the other side angle if you wouldn’t mind.

Just because you don’t have a wire in those locations doesn’t mean you can’t add a wire to those spots. You should test those other locations and see if any of them read as ACC locations. I’m glad your mirrors are working now, just a thought. I’d love it if you could definitely send me some pics. I wouldn’t mind at all seeing what I could do with this other master switch panel from the Hilux. It would be nice to have to one touch for each on of the buttons. Not a necessity but something fun I could mess around with for sure. Especially now that I figured out which connector it is that goes in it.

Yeah. Our mirror has a ton of parts. I remember the first time and I had two. A Toyota Hilux and our Toyota Tacoma Mirror and I was trying to figure out which parts I needed to piece together to make it all work. Haha. Then, once I got the puzzle back together I had to take it back apart to take pictures of what worked. Haha. I felt so bad for everyone waiting so long but it took a lot of testing this part and that part to make all the pieces come together for this puzzle. Now you guys all see. Well you see parts of it at least. It’s probably a really good thing you didn’t have to see the other part it took to get here ;) I’m just glad we are finally here and able to enjoy the Folding Mirrors and we did it ourselves. Not a big factory!!!

    UPDATE:

I just wanted to send kind of an update with what has been going on in my life so that people are kind of aware. Not that I have to but just so that people know when I don’t respond, it might be that maybe something came up unexpectedly and to maybe just hold a second and I will for sure get back to you. I normally am known to reply and ship right away and if that doesn’t happen, something usually is happening with my family and that takes priority over everything. That or my actual job. So here is my update:

In light of the above, on December 18, 2019 my neighbor was in a tragic accident that ended his life on December 28, 2019 after the family had to make the tough decision that nobody ever wants to have to make. My sister unexpectedly had to be taken to the hospital the night of December 21, 2019. She had surgery the morning of December 22, 2019. My sister didn’t get released from the hospital until December 24, 2019. Christmas was on December 25, 2019 where I had to take my sister back to the hospital because she was in severe pain and was having some complications from her surgery. My grandma had heart surgery on December 31st and just was released to come home January 2, 2020. We had the service for my neighbor yesterday, January 4, 2020 and I am currently at my grandmothers taking care of her while also trying to catchup on everything that I am behind on work wise and hobby wise (which is this).

I will be sending out like 10 Tundra kits and 2 Extension Outlet Harnesses (that I haven’t even got around to yet releasing are in stock now) today. I need to ship out some Mirror Sets that are done probably tomorrow hopefully and DIY kits for the SR5 which I have In Stock Now :). I have some Tailgate Lock and Tailgate Opener Kits for the Tacoma that I need to get out as well.

In the meantime, while all this has been going on, my vendor is getting ready to go on their 3 week holiday and I have to get orders in by the 8th so I have been trying to see what all I need before then. Ugh. I have also completed the Power Outlet Kit so that order has been placed. I have made changes to HUD. Waiting for second 3D sample of Grab Handle. I have finally installed Wi-Fi mirroring system paired with my Multi Cam System. I am getting it ready to ship to my vendors to get molds made for our mirrors and Harnesses. Unfortunately, for those that have the MESO Puddles, the cameras are on the inner. However, I may purchase if I can, just the outer section and get that mold made for you.

I’d like to say thank you for your patience and for your orders!!!

PS if someone has the 2020 outer section and wouldn’t mind sending it to me that would be amazing so I could get a mold made :)

Arrived today, woo! Can’t wait to get them put on. I do have two questions tho, since I have the SR5 I wasn’t sure if the blinkers on these would actually wire up and work - did I get the right set?

The other issue is my current mirror was smashed, so I don’t have the housing to swap onto the new ones. Are the plug and play ones supposed to have the backing as well?

Unless you tap into your turn signals from somewhere else in the truck, I don't think those blinkers will work.

Since you have an SR5, I think you have a different connector in your harness in the door panel.

I just checked my unpacking pictures, (post 462), and mine did not arrive with the upper housing either.

Makes sense on tapping into them. I’ll double check the harness box but definitely ordered the SR5 Kit - most of the delay for shipping was due to a harness issue from the vendor so had to play the waiting game.

so that should be fine, I guess I can just order the other covers then if they aren’t supposed to come with?

@KTJO 4x4 really appreciate everything you have done. Always remember to take care of yourself and family. Sucks for everything that's going on but when people really like and appreciate the things you do, they shouldn't mind waiting patiently.

    Cheers

Katie, Have you had any luck testing this switch? I recently ordered the DIY Kit and live in Canada, so we do have issues with ice and snow freezing mirrors. It would be great to be able to disable the auto fold of the mirrors during ice and snow freezing conditions.

Actually I’m kind of bummed. The guy that said he had the LHD shipped it out to me and it ended up being the same one I currently use. However, my plan is to convert the RHD one to our truck. Now that this kit is complete, I can go back to that switch. If you remember right, I originally started with that one and I only had to figure out the unfold part of the switch left. Everything else was done. So I’m almost there. Once I get it, my plan with my vendor is to have them make a mold of our door switch panel and it will be offered with the kit since the switch obviously mounts the other direction. You will not be able to use your current setup at all. However, it will be way worth it in my opinion to have the Auto Switch. I will have both Kits available just in case customers want the non-auto package, but I just think that it will be something that I will be offer in this form. Please let me know your thoughts. Yay or nay? Likes or Dislikes?

I can’t exactly remember where it’s mentioned but the mirrors do not come with the back cover because you just remove your back cover once you get them and then return the mirrors or depending on the package keep them. When purchasing mirrors from Toyota, you can purchase the full mirror assembly from them but the back covers are a separate purchase because there are so many exterior colors that Toyota offers. It would be extremely hard for me to offer Package 3 and go from customer to customer if I did the back cover as well. Therefore, I purchase the Mirror Housing from Toyota and then I figure if you need. New Back Cover you will purchase that but otherwise most people just swap their current one over.

I'd deffinalty be into having this other setup with switch and bezel. I was in -18°C this weekend and made sure of free movement to prevent damage. Looking forward to try this out!

    UPDATE:

Well thanks to @ib134866 we may be back in business again with the hopes of the LHD Auto Switch. He found a different supplier that has the Switch.

I have already made a purchase and it is processing. If in fact I can configure the auto feature, my vendor said that he should be able to source this switch for me. Fingers are crossed for us one more time that this one will show up and be the correct one!

I know we ended up talking after this post, but I was just going through the thread to try to snag some things for the website real quick and I saw this post. Your statement, "there’s enough of a difference to prevent engagement" made me actually laugh out loud. This picture specifically got me.

    OEM vs. Aftermarket TACO Hinge.jpg

I think you could have made it work, don't do you?? haha jk ;) Just some elbow grease. I can't remember, did you end up drilling the three holes in your OEM or did you end up selling the MESO Puddles. I was surprised to see that the MESO Puddles were off a little on the Aftermarket Mirrors because I know he was getting them made he had a couple of aftermarket sets there. I would have thought they would have been tested on all of the mirrors. However, if you can only go with one, I would have selected the OEM Mirrors as well. Just a bummer.

I made my puddle housing plastics to fit OEM Toyota mirrors only. The factory cap was 3D scanned for dimensional accuracy. I have had some feedback from customers trying to install them in aftermarket mirrors and there is a noticeable gap. Since These are molded, there’s not an easy way to change them to fit aftermarket. I have no clue why aftermarket mirror companies wouldn’t just use the same exact factory specs...but there definitely is some variations from OEM.

Just what I thought. I have no clue either. I didn’t even know they were different until this came about myself. It’s a good thing the OEM work with the Power Folding

Yeah I could have made it work if I cut some of the plastic. The groove was too narrow on the stock mirrors. No didn’t bother drilling the hole since it wasn’t fitting anyway. I still have the MESO puddles, but didn’t install them yet. One side (can’t remember which) wouldn’t clip in all the way. I’m planning to install it with RTV like 20tacoma17 suggested. Just haven’t gotten around to it.

Yeah I saw one of his installs with the RTV. I think it looked fine. Plus it is underneath and tbh, who is going to get underneath to look at it. That is what I would do as well. :)

    2020 TRD Pro Midnight Black
Hi Katie, Forgive me if I'm not doing this right. I'm a new member and have been following this for a bit now. I'm sorry to hear about the rough holiday season you had and am glad to see that you're back. I've ordered a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro (expect delivery May 2020) and the power folding mirrors and power tailgate lock are the first mods I would like to do when I get the truck. Do you or any of your followers have any experience with installing the power fold on a 2020 Pro with the 360 cams in the mirrors? I'm very good with my hands and mechanically, somewhat electrically. But with the factory addition of the camera in the Pro mirrors, I'm a bit concerned about the connectors. I'm hoping you or your followers can provide some feedback. If not, I'll be patient and wait to receive the truck and send you some pictures of what I find in the mirrors and doors. Thanks for all you do for Toyota truck owners!
