I used 2 small zip ties and it seemed to do the job. Can't quite tell yet.

I needed to zip tie mine in a way to put upward pressure on my rag joint. Simply wedging a zip tie in there didn't do it for mine. 90% quiet now

No pics, but just grab the joint and push/pull up and down, you'll hear a clunking. Zip tie it in a way that limits this up and down slack

Could the clunk be confused to seem like its coming from below floorboard?

What I had, you could feel it in the wheel and replicate it by grabbing the rag joint/column and shaking it

    Thread revival.

I have the clunk, but the tolerances are still tight enough that I can't fit even a tiny baby zap in the gap. I wonder if I should try something firmer ... any ideas?

Did this 3 weeks ago. Works well. The mechanic was suggesting getting a new steering coupler which would have been a lot more expensive and wouldn't solve the problem in my opinion. Initially I had an issue visualizing what should be done with the zip tie until I realized that it wasn't to be use to tie anything in place but to be placed between the small space to prevent the rattling.

Hey fellas I have this issue now after replacing the driver side LCA bushings and ball joint. Most of the front bushings were replaced subsequently and torqued. Sadly even after greasing and soaking the intermediate shaft u joint with PB blaster, the clunking, although it momentarily went away, for a few minutes, is back--and worse. It gets a lot louder now when hitting a bump, right and left off center entry in the driveway and making turns and even breaking at a stop light. It is just so annoying now. All these are my nightmares now only after deciding that since owning my Tacoma in 07 I never had the front wheel bearings replaced after hearing humming sounds in the front while driving. All shake tests for play done and couldn't replicate my issues. Tried to video while pushing up and down on the truck but could not visualize a play anywhere! I even checked the struts, mounts and bushing on the front but I could not pinpoint the exact location. And the possible culprit, the intermediate steering shaft #2, is again, resurgent cause of all these noises. I did every thing already but at this point, the spending has to stop. I cannot be replacing every part only to find out later that it was not the cause of the clunking. On some forums I have read that the cam bolts were also suspects if it was not properly torqued. The fact remains that the noise is coming from the front, on the left side, as I could hear and feel the clunking but would want to explode my frustrations because it is throwing me off. The noise is directly coming from under.

For now I still drive it--but my wife and my son, won't. They don't trust my pick up, like there was a bad vibes to it, something unlucky and sinister. But, in fairness they never complained when it was running great and roaming this earth. I therefore, submit this issue to the forum. Please advise: what am I missing here? My truck is a 2007 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Prerunner 2WD(rear) Double Cab Long Bed. No major accident involving the bumper. It is 154, 860. I have regular factory spec struts(Bilstein) and already replaced this with OEM parts. The original tires(Dunlop) I replaced with Firestone Destination LEs. My spare tires had been stolen twice but since I retrofitted locking slot with a key controlled lifting device, and reinforced by a bike chain I bought from Advance Auto Parts in MD, theft had been prevented. As to the tailgate, to prevent theft, I installed a screw based locking device to prevent theft since there was a time in 2015-2016 when, in my former workplace, we were warned by security to lock even our tailgates(for pick up owners like me) as there were reports of it being stolen here in LA. Through its lifetime it mostly was used for street driving(home to work, vise versa) but had been to Vancouver, BC, Pacific Northwest, NV, AZ, etc. on family road trips. So that's the story of my truck. I am not sure if it will be fully functional after an almost 4 month ordeal. I'm an avid DIYer who got fed up with these stealership organized robbery of the working man, selling you stuff you don't need. Money is tight right now as I am about to hit rock bottom and I need to fix this quickly.

What about 2, one on each side?
Or a pic to show us what's going on with one zip tie in there, if you can get one?
