TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Sorry new to this whole supercharger thing. Has Bully dog fixed there tuner? I bought a truck with one on it with a Magnusson supercharger. Engine dropped a piston the first week and the a/F was reading 8. It stops at 8 so could have been lower didn't know if I need to go somewhere else and get a tune. The dealer is covering for a newer engine.

 

Holy crap. That's wild. Under 8 AFR.

Bully dog has not and never will address their garbage tuner. Go TRD Tune then go HP Tuners in that order of succession.

A good compromise is the oem tow package oil cooler. It assists cooling and warming the oil without adding more difficulty to servicing.

 

What should my AFR be or be around?

 

I just went from e load to D load. Great difference and good middle ground

 

I have been running the IPT valve body for like 5 or 6 years now. No issues. Highly recommend.

 

Theoretically, 14.699. However, open loop acceleration is around 8-9 (rich, lots of fuel, little air). In closed loop, idle and cruising (12-14). The reason for not being exactly at 14.699 is anything above this is LEAN (too much air) and can destroy the engine quickly . Extra fuel doesn’t just get burnt it cools internals as well preventing damage. It sounds like you may have a leak or sensor causing open loop fueling. The OEM wideband sensor or ECU caps out at 8 something so you wouldn’t detect anything richer than that without a monitor.

Nothing lower than 10.5... ideally around 11.5 is totally ideal.

Anything below 10.5 under WOT or part throttle and you are just dumping fuel.

 

What kind of tire and what size in D load?

can anyone point me to old posts of fuel filter options. i need to do mine before motor going back in like the frame mount

 

It's right around 2700-2800 at 80. The Speedo is off by about 5mph at that speed. I showed the GPS speed in the beginning at 79.

But at 85.. loaded down.. yeah, about that. 2900 at th most.

 

I've been eyeing the URD relocate kit, seems like the way to go so you don't have to do surgery next time
