I recently received the notice for the "voluntary Customer Support Program" for my Tacoma. I called my selling dealer to make an appointment for a frame inspection. They informed me that there would be a $130.00 fee to inspect my truck. I was under the impression that the inspection would be free. Am I wrong in assuming this? I also asked them about the CRC campaign and when it would be available. They had no idea what I was referring to. I think a call to Toyota is warranted.

Although it's supposed to be a free inspection (and frame coating if they determine its needed), I suppose a greedy dealer might try to charge for it. Like Muddinfun said, find another (less greedy) dealer.

Definitely call around and find a dealer that has done this before, you don’t want some green bean under your truck with a undercoating gun loaded with that goop thinking he’s Josey Wales.

Call around every dealer is independent .

I never heard of them charging unless this is your dealer making a sales pitch for service .

Did the letter come from Toyota Corporate ??

Letter was legit from Toyota. I just got off the phone from Toyota. They said the dealers are independent and can charge for an inspection.
They also said that the CRC letters will go out in March 2020. I'll wait and get the "free" inspection then. Meanwhile, I'm headed to my local shop (and a friend of mine) to have a close look at the frame myself.

My dealer is Middletown Toyota in Middletown Connecticut, had the frame inspected was not charged with $0.01, paperwork I was given indicated that it was a service provided by Toyota corporate. and it was no charge.

As a side note my truck is a 2013 sport four-wheel drive, it has been fluid filmed since I've owned it ,the person that did the inspection was so impressed that there wasn't any rust he called all the mechanics over in the shop to take a look at it, compared to the truck that was in the back of the shop having its frame replaced.

Just an FYI ,again it's Middletown Toyota Middletown Connecticut and I definitely would go back to them for warranty corporate stuff, oil changes things like that I do myself
