Hill start assist control

Automatics have it and Manual Sports do too, Manual Pro and Off Road do not.

 

I prefer if I didn't have it. I like it, I just don't like the way it was implemented here..

 

The system sucks. Just got a 2019 and it is the first vehicle I've owned in 20 years that did not hold on a hill until gas was engaged. If someone drives my truck I'll have to warn them about it. A feature that acts like a bug.

 

Would my truck this hill assist feature? 2019 trd sport 4x4 automatic?, thanks

In the Sport M/T you've got 2 seconds after brake pedal release OR application of throttle, whichever comes first.
I like it, and only occasionally feel it working against me.. but that's just a footwork issue IMO.

Yes, the Sport should have it being automatic or manual, the crawl control is on automatic Off Road and Pro.

Did you ever find out why it makes the clicking noise on steep hills when you switched from brake to gas ? Was it the hill start assist?

 

@buzzmama it is definitely the hill start assist. I live in a mountainous area and when I first purchased it and made the initial post it was extremely odd, now some years later I kinda forget about it and its just part of the design.

 

The clicking is the ABS doing its thing. Nerve racking but normal. It’s a neat system.

 

Thank you. I live in WV and there are some steep hills. New Tacoma owner and just making sure this was normal.

 

This is the worst damn feature, I actually wouldn't have bought this truck if I knew it did this.

 

My 2021 Sport 6MT has this feature. At first it was confusing, felt like a dragging something when I was expecting and wanting roll back. I still pull the hand brake when stopped on hills. Throttle, clutch, and release the hand brake, all in synchronicity!
Old habits die hard.
