The ROG RX580 so much cooler and quieter than the MSI RX580!
I’ve gotten about 8 hours of game time in since I installed the card and I’m excited to say that I’m seeing 85-90 FPS in far cry 5, temp is stable at 50-52C, and I believe the fans stay around 62%, it’s much quieter in game than the MSI card and it really helps my game feel as I don’t wear a headset for gaming.

I haven’t fooled with over clocking yet and I don’t know if I will, the stock Asus clocks are about the same as what I manually clocked the MSI card to (1360 GPU, 2000 VRAM) and the frame rates on the games I’ve played are consistently above 60 FPS which is all I need with my current monitor setup.

For all the Intel fans out there I wanted to make sure I posted about the new stuff Intel will likely talk about at CES. The 10th Gen desktop hardware should be massively improved but not necessarily AMD competitive price wise. It appears competitive pressure has cause Intel to abandon their absolutely retarded product stack to go with one hauntingly similar to AMD.

Basically i3 through i9 will now all have hyperthreading! Also the chipset will no longer only provide 4 PCI-E lanes to the board which means more X570 like features. Finally, the i9 has a new boost mechanism that's supposed to hold out for longer at high boosts but no promises, oh and it will be only on SKU none of the KS or KF bullshit anymore. Okay that's the good now the bad.

Point blank pricing looks to be bad. Intel isn't announcing it at CES which means be prepared for these processors to be priced against or worse than their numbered AMD counterparts. That's bad because it means AMD will still probably have the core and IPC per clock lead while Intel will be probably about 8-10% faster gaming wise at full out boost or overclock. The reason it's bad is because that means Intel will still ask for more money, including a new socket motherboard, for products that only hand around with AMD. Last bad thing, expect difficulty cooling everything above the i5. TDPs are going up and the ones that aren't have crazy low stock clocks to cover up the massive power draw. Get ready for FX series like temperatures and recommendations to water cool the i7 and i9.

Anywho for team Blue fans it's something good. A lot more for probably a little more money is good for competition. That being said don't expect Intel to catch AMD at daily tasks, only slightly improve their comparison to AMD and slightly improve their gaming lead on the i9.

How? It's double the money and it's just a low end Asetek cooler and pump. I mean it's cool, has that LCD screen and a nice little chipset fan, but last time I saw one they wanted $300 CAD for a 240 mm. That's custom loop kind of cash.

I live Noctua fans but just buy a Fractal Asetek and the fans lol, cheaper and better quality parts than the Asus Asetek.

Im hoping to hear more on their GPU's. Be interesting if all they are actually going to put out is a PCIe version of their on board video stuff.

That was leaked as well. There first card is disappointingly just the new Iris graphics unit on a discreet card. Supposedly they are going that direction to start because; they can sell the discreet card for compute power in Adobe and other supported Intel graphics supported programs, they can sell a mobile version as a competitor to the 1650, and the card supposedly will have some sort of QPI version that will let design and AI users link multiple cards to get cheap high end professional graphics support.

Supposedly Intel will mention other better cards as well but no announcement on those until later.

AMD information has not leaked yet. Very likely they show off the 3990X, possibly the 3980x, and talk about Navi 2. There is even a chance they drop the 5900 XT based on Navi 2. The rumor is RTX Titan level performance...

There is a rumor that the reason why Intel is not dropping in with a high end card is because their tech didn't scale as well as hoped. Sort of what happened to AMD with the Polaris and Vega designs. Kind of funny since the same guy was in charge of all three of those programs.

Yikes. That feeling when Asus has all their demonstration models at CES packing the new Ryzen processors with almost no Intel presence. Team blue looking a little weak right now.

Team Blue shot themselves in the foot not having the 10th gen laptop CPU's out to partners yet....or really any info on them even. Which is silly since laptops are the one area Intel hasnt lost much ground on performance wise vs AMD

The new Intel NUC sounds interesting. Even if it is sort of moving away from the super compact design of the past.

It honestly is feeling like Intel just sort of went...crap we wont be ready for CES so just tease everything and let AMD have their moment to shine.

It's also probably due to Zen 2 eating up Intel's lead in the laptop space. The high end non ultrabook 10th Gen laptop processors from Intel are slight upgrades to the 9th Gen, meaning the Ryzen 4000 laptop processors have likely caught up to Intel in much the same way the desktop processors have. No point in Intel bringing attention to that situation. They're better off staying quiet until they can either figure out a way to spin a secure win or come out with a 10 nm non-ultrabook part.

Upgraded 5 out of 6 home & office machines finally to Windows 10, given next week's impending deadline. Will do the last one today. They were all running Win 7 Pro. I waited this long, because they all worked really well (if it ain't broke, why fix it) and had stand-alone software that can't be purchased anymore (all w/ $$$ monthly subscription now). I had also exceeded the activation limits on the software, which is a nice trick for software companies to bully you into subscribing under the new rates. Anyway, the upgrades went surprisingly well. Only a handful of non-compatible programs. Other than the reactivation headaches, everything works well so far. Average upgrade time was about 1.5 hours, thanks to the SSDs.

Yeah the monthly model is all the rage now on professional and office programs.
