Can I get in on this list? I'm good for Saturday, is anyone camping out here or just out and back same day?

I’d maybe be down to camp, schedule dependent. I wouldn’t be able to tell you until it gets closer though

I’m good with just a day trip, just seeing what the entire group is doing.

For sure! So far it looks like the weekend of Feb 29/March 1st, and Saturday works best for everyone. Leap Day Run! I won't be camping but anyone who wants to can definitely do that.

@Samus , I'm good for either Saturday, but I'll need an early date confirmation to secure a Sunday.

One note on High Point... large parts of this trail cannot support two way traffic, but the primary traffic flow is up towards Palomar. If we encounter traffic, being a larger group will benefit us since smaller groups will need to back track. An advance truck running a 1/4 mile screen would be recommended. I led a group down HP last fall from Palomar and we encountered two 3rd Gens coming up. Where we passed, they had to climb the inner edge and took stripes to do so, everyone had to pull mirrors in and watch to make sure outside tires didn't go over the edge ( less than a foot to spare ). It was a definite pucker moment for fat bodied 3rd gens. @Trah should remember that trip since he rescued my ham antenna that day.

Samus, if you haven’t already would be a good to start another thread for this trip in the SoCal section so this isn’t lost in the monthly off road trip.

    stuff and things...
that was definitely a sketchy moment...not a sketchy as when i was sliding back down the icy hill at pilot rock though, that was terrifying knowing there was nothing i could do.

I'm pretty good at recovering things...last time i went to pine valley with some work buddies my friend's bronco back wouldn't close all the way and i had to keep stopping to recover his little pastry pie thingies...

That's great to know and I'll definitely take that into consideration when planning. This might take some in-and-out random directions anyways, depending on whether or not the gate connecting Palomar Divide and High Point is open. If it's closed, both of those now become out-and-back trails as opposed to connectors, which will be a time suck. Ditto for the gate at the south end (off the 79) of Puerta La Cruz - but if that's the case, no biggie because right around the corner is access off of Chihuahua Valley Rd. I'll have a couple different routes planned and will call the Rangers right before the trip to find out the condition of things up there.

Isn't that the purpose of this thread? The OP has a Google Docs link that anyone can organize a run with. There is a much higher following on this thread that a lot of the regional sub threads.

I just think as an organizer of an event it is easier to keep track of things in a separate thread. This one can have multiple trips or topics going on which make it difficult to organize. also difficult as a viewer to see what Trip everyone it talking about without going back a few pages and you still may not be able to find it.
