Well...I did something yesterday. I sold my Trail rims and Duratracs. Just wasn't really using them. Too nice of a wheel and tire to just sit in my garage.

Nice gentleman with an '01 Tundra bought them. We mounted them in my garage. So much better for him than the junk 20" wheels and tires he had.

I picked up a set of stock 16" steelies for next to nothing. Got a set of Firestone WinterForce 2 UVs in a 265/75/16 heading my way from the Tire Rack. That should more than cover me for winter driving...especially as little as they would ever be on the truck.

Any other stockers running radar detectors (where legal?) I've got a cheap $35 one I got at Autozone a while back and I've been thinking about upgrading. Don't get me wrong, it has saved me countless times and more than payed for itself, but I'm leaning towards one of the passport offerings that has false alert memory. The DOT electric signs set my current one off like I won a jackpot.

It's not cheap. But neither are speeding tickets.

 

I'm a "slow" driver. I don't speed very often either.

So I'm no help.

 

I had a uniden it works great but gave it to my son he drives like a bat out of hell. I have slowed down a lot in my old age. But if I was going to get another one that's what I would get again

 

WAZE and its police activity alerts are very helpful. And free.
I typically don't speed. I find the notifications useful to give a heads up that the speeders are about to slam on their brakes.

 

I always have that on when I'm on the highway, and I do like it a lot. Although up here in Maine, especially in the late evening/speeding hours, there's nobody active on it to report police.

I'm not trying to find ways to be a lunatic on the highway, when there's anyone else out or it's busy I'm following the flow. But when I've got an hour and a half on the highway and nobody in front of me....

getting in the weeds on this one a bit, maybe I outta start another thread somewhere, but...

The Uniden R series has a direct wire bundle in the market. Would the power supplied to our 2nd gen rearview mirrors with the rear camera screen be adequate to run one?

12V electrical is not my jam.....

it'd still be a stock truck. Jus' sayin'

 

I would say you're fine. It will probably be a very simple 2 wire hook up....a positive and a ground. It would be best if the positive source was hot only when the ignition was on though. Assuming that's the case with the mirror/camera setup

Do the newer ones fit too? I’m thinking a little more modern alloy look than those. There is a ton of talking about the actual hub and lug fitment on 5 mugs.

 

As far as I know the newer ones are still 5x114.3 with a 60.1 mm hub bore. That stuff hasn't changed in ages. That also means Camry, Solara, Avalon, Sienna, Highlander, ES, RX and others will bolt up to your 5 lug. The offset would be something that you might need to check into.
