Toytec lift, and extremely harsh ride?

    Yeah, I wouldn't have done that lift without replacing the shocks. Replace the shocks and you'll probably be good.

    King 10" coilovers w/ resi. 3.5" over long travel kit. Factory spindles w/ ALLPRO gussets. Total Chaos tower gussets. Energy Poly cab mounts and steering rack mounts. Glassworks fenders and bedsides. Home fabbed bed cage. King 2.5x16 bypass shocks in the rear. DMZ long travel rear end. Race radio (2meter). Removed secondary carbon air filter. Exhaust dumped before the axle / no muffler. Phram fresh air cabin filter. K&N replacement filter, After market stereo, Grillcraft grill, custom fabled roof rack with 7" HID's, PRP race seats.
    I used to run bilstein but I would go with OME in your situation given you're already using their springs. Thing to keep in mind is you've change one dynamic of your suspension. You have a stiffer spring but the same shock which means no extra dampening to accompany the stiffer spring rate. I would expect your ride to be alot less harsh with the upgraded OME shock absorbers.

    Thanks. One last question for you guys, if I buy the 5100's and put them on with the lift i already have on and the ride still sucks, I can remove the lift and use the 5100's to get more height correct?

    yes the front 5100s are adjustable. they have 4 settings. 0, 0.85, 1.75, 2.5

    but I think you would be better off with the OMEs with the lift. Your crap stock shocks are your problem. Once you replace them you will really like your lift.

    Just throwing this out there, but maybe its because your truck is 4 cylinder and the front end weight doesn't compress springs as intended. Not familiar with 884's so don't know if made for 4 bangers.

    I had 884's with stock shocks. Ran about 3.25"-3.5" of lift due to lack of weight. Had no down travel and the ride was absolute shit. You want quality ride with a 3" lift go with a nice coilover setup or just get the OME shocks to go with the coils or 5100's at zero. Either way its the freaking shocks you have that suck...might I also recommend removing the top plate spacer. I was running them and had more than 3" of lift which also contributed to a shitty as hell ride.

    I am definitely going to get new shocks, and I was thinking about removing the spacer as well. I just read on the Toytec site that they don't recommend using 5100's with aftermarket coil springs. What's the deal with that?

    I think it is because they realize A LOT of people are stupid and do not take lots of things into account. For one the fact that OME 884's will give 3" of lift with the top plate spacer. Well someone then will want 4" of lift so they will add a larger than recommened spacer or set the Billys to .85", or some other weird/improper configuration then they have to argue with the customer and all that other stuff. If you use the lift coils with 5100's at the stock level your fine.

    Its mostly to cover their ass for stupid people who do not do research before they start screwing with things!

    Originally when I talked to Toytec before buying my 1st lift I was talking with them asking what they recommended and its almost like they would not have sold me the lift kit with anything other than the 884's due to weight reasons...which I am glad they did cause even with the softest springs I sat over 3".

    Cool man, thanks for all the info. That makes sense that they are looking out for the dumbasses that would try and get an extra 2 inches of lift. I'm going to call DSM soon.
