This looks like a great site to go to for info on my quest to become the proud owner of my first Toyota. Not sure what kind of modifications to do just yet. First thing is to find the white Tacoma I am looking for: http://downtowntoyota.com/New-VehicleResearch/2011_Toyota_Tacoma_1081030.aspx

Why is this Tacoma right for me? Great mileage (19/25), lower height (66" vs 70" for the PreRunner), lower price (don't need a 4X4 out here in California.) As boomers with some grandkids likely to show up in the next couple of years, my wife and I need the double cab. This model (with the short bed) looks like it is exactly what we need. Now the only question is: when will they start building it so we can buy one?

Thanks for the greeting !!! Yes, the 2011's are showing up now. None (yet) for this model though. I guess I just need to be patient. Toyota's manufacturing plans seem to be about as well guarded a secret as Apple's. Hopefully they will start cranking out this model (7182)

Ron, Thanks !!! I see your truck has the tube style runners. Can you tell me if you think those are better than the other style of runner or none at all? Not sure about the pros and cons.

Although my preference is to find the base double cab with the lower cab height (model number 7182 is 66 inches vs. 70 for the pre-runner), my dealer can't seem to find that model in Northern California, so I may need to go with the taller pre-runner. In that case some sort of step up boards may be appropriate.
