Highest I’ve seen is a neighbor who has 2 3rd gens and basically has 400k between the 2. I’m still trying to get a odometer shot from him but he’s always on the road. Hauls and tows daily too, and simply keeps up on scheduled maintenance. 7kish intervals with “crappy” Supertech Walmart oil too. I’d say it shows to true nature and quality of these trucks despite the naysayers.

Working on it. Only had a conversation with him a handful of times. Nice guy just always busy and gone. Next time I see him I’ll ask him though. He’s had 1st gens in the past he’s used as work trucks and they lasted him long enough to where he didn’t have to get a second gen lol

    Those are indeed impressive numbers.

I bought my 2017 Off Road in April 2017, I have 49,110 miles as of this morning. I change engine oil and oil filter every 10 - 12K (Amsoil), and changed all the other lubes at ~5K (not since then), and that's it so far. Was thinking to do the plugs at around 60K, but based on OP's experience, maybe I will wait a little longer. A good friend of mine has a 1st Gen Taco with around 250K miles, he's retired and mostly travels around the western US in his truck. He changed plugs at 100K and again at 200K, his truck still runs great.

Bought my 19 the end of Feb 2019, and I'm sitting at 15,8xx miles as of this morning. The miles pile on quick as it is a daily driver.

EDIT: Glad to see some of the reliability is carrying over with this engine.

Luckily this engine is extremely well proven in other Toyota and Lexus products.

most peoples concerns seem to come from that fact that they feel that transmission and engine dont jive well together plus the engines programming with torque way up at 4500ish rpm.

but yea the engine itself with routine maintenance will last a long time.

My 1st Gen has 220,000 with all original everything except shocks, tires and brakes. Since I don't drive it much I change oil every year.

I think this comes from people who just aren’t used to the way it feels, there just isn’t any evidence for reliability issues with this engine/transmission combo. Look at the ZF tranny’s in a few recent Chrysler and other products, the Colorado transmission debacle, and the suit over Ford’s 10 Speed. Garbage transmissions make themselves known pretty quickly, and the Aisin in these trucks just isn’t one of them.

Finally. Someone with actual logic about these transmissions.

The Aisin trannies that Toyota puts in their trucks are bulletproof.

In fact, I'd say there's a high likelihood these transmissions will go longer than the engine before needing repair. There's a 1.2 million mile Tacoma out there with the original unopened transmission, and plenty of others with well over 500k miles on them, still running strong.

Replace the fluid every 60k miles, no neutral drops, and don't overheat them, and they will just keep going.

My uncle has a 2017 TRD Sport with about 18K miles on it!

I’ll bet yours is still worth $15-$20K!

Yep. There’s a reason even Ram opted to put them in their HD trucks...

So I have heard NEVER replace the transmission fluid, or at least "never do a flush and fill." This guys thinking was that causes all the particulates to dislodge and clog up the internal filters.

Sure enough, a year later a friend of mine got a "flush and fill" on his 2015 GMC and the transmission went out soon after.

Automatics scare me to death, but is this a baseless fear? I've never heard a single story about an automatic transmission burning up in a Toyota.

The millon mile Tacoma being a 2wd 2.7 is not surprising. I wonder what a 4x4 3.5 would do.

I'd be right there with you, but my work travel has dropped off to nearly zero in the last year and a half. Currently sitting at 97k, if I'd kept up what I had been doing, I'd be about 140-150k.

10k oil changes here. Still original plugs and brakes. Changed diff and trans fluid twice (about 12k miles towing). Put on my second set of falkens in October, I blew up a factory tire around 15k and had 55k on the first set of falkens.
