Yea I saw that. His channel is where I learned about dehumidifiers in ductwork since it’s so humid down here.

The chicken coop I built was part of a larger build that I’m the owner’s representative on. I had originally chosen Risinger, Matt’s company, as the builder, the lead on the job went off on his own and we went with him, Rauser construction. It’s great to witness building science and craftsmanship work together.

Cable company contractor cut the powerline to my shop today trenching a new line to replace the temporary line that the cable company ran. They're supposed to be back on Thursday to fix it. Found out whoever did the wiring for the shop ran black wires for both hots and the neutral.

Meh, pretty standard anymore, companies use up whatever wire they have on hand sometimes, as long as they are tossing some phase tape on it they don’t care what color the jacket is, doesn’t change what’s inside

    This. ^^

all the work I have done recently with my electricians has been like this. Just throw some tape on the end of it so you can ID what’s what and you’re good. A lot easier to keep one 500’ roll of black instead of having four separate rolls of wire rolling around a truck/shop

Except there is no tape marking when I pulled the breaker box cover at the house. Also tape on the ends is no use when you're 10-15 feet from the box where the underground conduit was cut.

Sounds like a very lazy electrician or possibly the tape fell off. Since it’s cut anyway I’m sure the whole run will be replaced instead of a weird junction box at the break being out in. Make sure it’s labeled at that time. You’ll probably never need to know what wire is what but I have problem so I need to know things like this at my house/jobs.

What gauge is the wire? If it’s a detached shop I would personally recommend running no less that 100a to a shop.

I'm not sure what gauge it is. It's dark out m, and I didn't look that close. Power into that particular box comes straight off the meter, so I'm not sure if I can shut off the supply. The breaker at the house that feeds power to the shop is 70 amps, and the main breaker in the shop fuse panel is 100 amps.

The guy that I spoke with from the company that cut the line mentioned putting in a weatherproof box and splicing the lines in the box.

Make them pull new wire with a conduit splice. Where they trenched through.

Copper or aluminum no biggie. Just make sure there's no splice. Below grade. That's where you run into problems.

That was a Pilgrim builder/Enabler project, my friend was on that crew. They are definitely talented builders.

That was the first time I'd seen it out side of the mothership earth were they used car tires and dirt. I'd love to do some passive or green builds in this area.

Mostly done. Have doors for two of the cabinets and two drawers to build. A hanging open cabinet for glass wear, and a coffee table to match with a copper epoxy river.
