Same on the Viper. It forced you from 1st to 4th if you were not in the open loop regions (WOT and such). Usually, there was a stupid easy mod to eliminate it.

Wow thanks for the info on the Viper, had no idea it had that stupid crap too. I had noticed the little modules they sell for the GM's that allowed you to bypass it.

Yeah. I think the 2nd Gens and on? Supposedly, it was just capping a harness under the car near the transmission so the servo didn't activate. Sort of like the Taco ADM. :D

No they didn't. The top gear in the Vette was stupid high to hit the EPA numbers to avoid the guzzler tax.

That is sort of the appeal of my bike. Great torque at the bottom and nice power at 10.5k.

Not if you double clutch especially on downshifts.
The only synchros I have seen worn out are 1st gear, not on a Tacoma. This was long ago when oils were not as good as today.
I have a 2nd generation with 5 speed manual, I sometimes go from 3rd to 5th if I've gone to 5000 rpm entering the freeway. There is nothing to require skipping gears.
I often skip gears when slowing down.

Top Gear did a great segment on the C6 Z06's power delivery/5th gear, still a crazy high ratio:
    https://youtu.be/Ko9kzyqW-l8?t=94
    0 - 175 mph, in one gear.

Driving around in my 5.0L Mustang, I loved being able to release the throttle then slam it back down to break the rear wheels free. Horrible for the drive train but fun to do. So much fun, back then it took 4 excessive speeding tickets and a bunch of other various tickets to lose your license for a short spell. Now you lose your car, you license and pay through the nose in fines.

It's my realistic "someday" car
It won't fit into my fiscal or even parking scenario in the slightest, but I'll have to own one, preferably heads/cams/intake modded.

I'm still missing the MGW shifter on my 1996 cobra with the preset stops, so no matter how hard the shifts occurred, the shift forks remain purdy & intact.

No sir, just a run of the mill Z06. Mint examples via CorvetteForum are under $30K.

That's the plan! Like the Taco, I can play with the limits and not lose a license.

Nice! That's my dream. Small, cheap, and fun.

The one drive that I had in an NA ages ago is still memorable.
