Not too Bad. Now, I would pull the kick panel trim down and pull the fuse box down to check the wires going to the fuse box and make sure they’re all there. Also, check if the wires are at the ecu. You MAY need an ecu, I don’t know if these trucks got 4x4 ecu or not as prerunners

I realized I don’t need a locker to begin with. I use my truck for truck things like hauling trash and other stuff that doesn’t fit in a car.

tyler, trust me on this - if you EVER decide you want to take that truck off the beaten path (i mean seriously off the trails) you are going to want to have that rear diff locker. You gave it 4WD, you bought the bedrack and RTT setup - this summer USE IT. Just a thought bud.

Thank you for that, much appreciated. Will kick you some paper back - put it toward your Z project.

    I have one, factory too.

It's how I'm able to mall crawl.

I don’t know if it’s the same as the one you linked. Mine is green and says “TRANSMISSION RELAY” on it.

As for the locker, I’m probably going to do it when I regear. I’d rather regear the stock 8.4” axle than the weaker 8.0” axle.

I bought the set to trade evenly for a 4.88 gearset. He had that when he bought the truck and wanted to go to 4.10. He flaked and never heard from him again. I guess he realized how bad of a deal it was.

Since I’m going to re-gear eventually, I’d rather re-gear my stock 8.4” axle that is stronger than the 8.0” e-locker axle.

I know it’s different than the linked one. Mine is green. It was in the passenger kick panel, because I cut it along with the power door pigtails. I cut that harness to use for my power door conversion.

This is what I was getting at with this diagram from the wiring diagrams (page 35). F6 is designated as the 4WD ECU. It should be located directly above from the Center Airbag Sensor Assembly (C20,C21,C22 - page 34). It specifically states it would be present for vehicles with the 2-4 Select SW. Don't have it of course and from what I can see that plug off the harness is not there. Unless its wrapped up along the main harness tucked in near the steering column. I'll take another look tomorrow.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if the ADD Actuator plug is present on the harness at the transmission just to see if its wired for it - if it is, then you're right about them being wired for everything. Should be an easy check.

chances are prerunners are setup with the jshift harness because less wires.
So you probably don’t have the connector for the computer. Just the relay.

my 01 doesn’t have the relay connector. But it’s a push button

You do need to have a 4x4 ecu though. Easy to check. Just pull the glove box, and the vent. A 4x4 ecu will say 4x4 on the sticker

My 5-Lug has the connector housing for the rear locking differential under the driver’s seat. Connector BN1. It’s a huge empty connector with only one pin populated for ground.

That’s because that ground is shared with the taillights. (Ask me how I know, that was a fun week of probing to find out why my truck kept blowing tail fuses)

you're talking about the ECM right? See thats where I was confused initially when you mentioned it before. I was looking over the docs and it was talking about a "4WD ECU" that being in the center of the console. Then there is the big module behind the glove box - in the diagram that is listed as "Engine Control Module" and there are I believe 5 connectors.

When removing that thing, do I need to disconnect the battery? Last thing I want to do is accidentally activate the damn passenger airbag squib or fry the ECM. Just a thought.
