I might be buying a Tacoma. Can I get your inputs?

Sorry I meant it doesn't lock with the fob. As for the JBL, I find it lacking in clarity. The lower frequency tends to get muddy. I listen to a lot of hip-hop/rap and RnB.

Yeah , I listen to hip-hop/rap/metal. It’s fine for a factory set up. The Bose system in the C7 sounds better , but it’s also in a tiny compact area versus inside a big truck interior

I have a 2020 and the passenger has the smart key touch points on the handles.

I am getting about 18-20MPG, stock but still new too. I'm happy with everything stock (at least the stock size, that's the point of a mid size is the cheaper tires compared to a full size, etc.)

I agree about the locking tailgate. Looks easy to install and I definitely want to be doing that one ASAP, but I wish it was from the factory :(

I love that the SR comes with the TSS, I was between the SR and OR actually. Ended up with the OR because I've always wanted one, but I think I would have been happy to get the 2020 SR with android and manual seats. The key was a huge selling point I'll be honest. I can live without power seats, I'd actually probably prefer the manual seats.

All of them have a lock form factory, they don't have a power lock though, you have to use the key to unlock.

Actually some do have the power lock, they just have the same pop n lock or whatever it's called, it's port installed I think Southeast Toyota runs differently and they build them out that way.

If you buy the SR5, you won't like the ride compared to the OR or Sport. If you do buy the SR5, think about getting a suspension from a Sport where the owner installed a lift kit and sold the slightly used suspension

    Like, so many.
    Hey man, welcome.

One thing I think you'll like about Tacomas is the community and after market support. It's not dissimilar from Jeep.
You've actually outlined the differences in trims really well. The SR5s are very capable, especially with better tires. I have an OR and I've never "needed" my locker, but I wanted to have it just in case. I've also never needed Crawl Control and that wasn't really a selling point for me. I have used it and it definitely works as advertised. You might appreciate some of the creature comforts the TRD models offer. Whichever you decide on, get a bed mat. They are about $100, but the really improve the functionality of the bed.

I'm new to the Tacoma world of trucks. I just traded in a 2013 Ford F150 on a new 2019 Tacoma SR5. The Ford starting rusting pretty bad and had an ongoing problem with the 4WD system and the front hubs.

In regard to the automatic transmission on the Tacoma. There is a definite, lets call it a "uniqueness" about the automatic transmission in this truck. I currently own a 2013 Highlander V6 with the 5 speed auto. The Ford was a V8 with a 6 speed auto. I have never felt a transmission shift like the Tacoma. After just a few hundred miles I thought for sure the torque converter was bad. I've had two previous cars with bad torque converters, both GM products. The Highlander transmission is very smooth, barely noticeable when it is shifting. Same with the Ford, nothing unique or noticeable about either transmission. The Tacoma on the other had is different. Even my wife in the passenger seat questioned if there was something wrong with the transmission.

There is just over 1000 miles now on the Tacoma and I will say it has appeared to mellow out somewhat. Some have said you need to give it 1200 miles or so to let the computer know your driving habits or maybe I am just getting used to it. It is very possible and most likely intentional that the transmission is designed this way for the best gas mileage. But overall it is very noticeable and different than any other vehicle I have owned. Using the ECT button does cause the transmission to shift more smoothly and doesn't seem to hunt for which gear it wants to be in. I drive in a lot of rolling hills which causes the transmission to down and up shift quite often.

Perhaps the AT is simply designed this way, which I can live with. I just hope it is not causing premature transmission problems that will show up in the future.

If you want to mod it, get the SR5 and upgrade; if you want to keep it mostly stock and enjoy a few bells and whistles, get the OR. My wife wanted to have the tech package even though she barely drives the truck, so I ended up with the OR (I didn't complain as I was originally going to get the SR5). I really appreciate the bells and whistles--it's actually more tech saavy and nicer inside than my 2014 Subaru was.

I really hate Toyota for half-assing features. Power lock tailgate wasn't an option until 2020, the smart key touchpoint on the passenger side came in 2020, carplay didn't come until 2020. 2019 didn't come standard with the bed cubby on the driver side like previous years. Power seats didn't come until 2020. Oh.. and I opted for the TRD OR fully loaded leather sunroof and all.

My ass still pulled the trigger because I was tired of my previous car breaking down on me. other than that.. solid truck so far lol

    I'll trade seats.

But the Android/Apple and the updated grille were reasons to get a '20 over a '19. I paid more, but if I got the '19 I would have immediately spent 750$ on a head unit and probably around 200$ on a grille (I would have gone with the SR/SR5). So right off the bat, new truck, drop a grand. They were going for about a grand more for the '20, so I got it all factory with warranty and full integration :D

I got a "base" OR - no packages, add ons, etc. I had mud flaps and door sill protectors, that's it. Otherwise it's a no package, no sunroof, no preimum, no LED lights, etc. (I kind of wish I had gone with the package that gives the remote start, but I can probably get that AM for much less than it would have cost from OEM).
