    Morning all

Finally got the chainsaw running, 1970s McCulloch.

    Yeah, not so good.

Might have to spend some scratch on a new one. Any suggestions?

    Preferably free.

    That would be Mike

Battery chainsaw and don't look back. Be aware that traditional chainsaw chaps will not protect against them they cut right through the old style chaps. You need chaps specifically made for electric chainsaws.

Uh Oh. For some reason I think there may be images of Andy in chaps coming in the future. And a hat.

I like the idea of battery electric

    But not chaps.

Would battery be enough power to take out an oak?

Hang in there Kevin, it will warm up soon down there! -2 this morning here but supposed to be 39 tomorrow. Then back down around zero. Just a teaser by Mother Nature to get my hopes up.

Absolutely, think electric cars and torque. The batteries keep getting larger all the time and longer lasting. Stihl is good no doubt about it. But if all your going to do is the occasional cut then most of the larger ones would work. Good reviews on another site of the Jonsered 16" 58-Volt Cordless Chainsaw which is on clearance right now at most places. It is $170 at Menards here but don't think you have Menards in your area. But other places are selling them for close to that too. Make sure you get the 5.2 amp\hr. battery with it if you do go that route not the smaller one.

I have a cheap $100 14" Black and Decker electric that I carry in the Polaris Ranger recovery gear to cut my way out if I get trapped down a 2 track. Pulled it out to cut up a large red oak that fell in my backyard this summer instead of the gas saw. It really impressed me I'm sold. I'll replace the gas one with a larger electric one at some point.

Babe the Blue Ox has been in Bemidji, Mn. since 1937

Just got back from the Ortho doctor that mfgd my AFO brace for my l/foot . Because of my large feet and having to insert the brace plus use an orthotic no normal shoes will fit . Only shoes that'll fit are custom made shoes designed for diabetic patients

These shoes are extra wide with more room for the brace but very expensive !!!!

I'm sure this is code for something...but don't want to know what.

I'm sold on the electric from the lawnmower I got last year. Does as good a job as any gas one ever did without the gas and oil to mess with. Stores easier too...hang it on the wall of the shed.
