I’m not worried about losing anything when it comes to lifting. All of that comes back really quick.

I was out of lifting for 6 months after my rotator cuff repair. I came back only able to do the main barbell lifts with an empty barbell. It didn’t take long to work back up. By the end of the year I was benching 260lbs on that shoulder.

Plus I’ve already lost most of that. I can’t do leg exercises with more than 40-50lbs anymore.

I’m worried about getting fat lol.

I am going to the grocery store after work. I’m getting blueberries and bananas. I ain’t got to be keto no mo!

How much does a flexy deadlift bar help vs deadlifting with a standard bar? Anyone know ?

Not a whole lot unless you are lifting enough weight to really bend it. You're still pulling the same weight but instead of 700lbs all at once its 700lbs progressive weight till its all off the floor.

Gets super sketchy when you get to something as long and flexible as the elephant bar. Stability becomes a major issue.

the more weight on the bar the more it helps.

the bar is slightly thinner too so it’ll be easier to hold.

Bruh my grip sucks. I’m using wraps for 400lbs cause my hands are little bitches with the standard bar lol.

Want to try one one day and I see the powerlifters use momentum in the flexy bar to get the weight started so I’ve always been curious about it.

@PackCon finally got my medical insurance info for the new job. They cover 100% of the basic medical, high deductible plan. And then I pay for dental + vision which comes out to $50 a month for the both. Not bad.

I can also “upgrade” my plan if you will to an HMO or PPO but I’d have to pay an extra $60 or $178.

Work on your grip strength or switch to hook grip. Don’t use straps for anything. If you can’t hold onto it, don’t do it.

    Unless you train strongman :p

Cause then you're allowed straps in competition.

My hands just don’t like the big bars. Like I can’t do pull ups on the big padded grips but I can do a bunch on a smaller bar. Same with doing rows and such. Hands hurt and I’d rather have bigger back and such than strong hands.

what’s your reasoning on saying no straps?

There will never be a point in your life that you go to actually pick something up and go “well hold on, I’ve got some weight lifting straps in the truck. I’ll find a way to wrap them around the corner of this 300lb dresser”

doesn’t make sense to me to be able to lift a bunch of weight but not be able to physically hold onto it. Exceptions being strongmen (who compete in straps) and bodybuilders who want to shrug until their traps dissolve but their forearms can’t keep up. Average gym goer who just wants to be stronger, or someone who PL’s doesn’t have much reason for straps.

that said, I’ve used straps before and used them a few months ago because I did something to my thumb and it hurt like shit to hook grip. They’re a useful tool but definitely not an “every time I go over 70% because I have shit for grip” kind of thing.

    exception A^

because if you actually trained your grip then you would be able to do pull ups on big padded bars, and do rows and such.

    see more reasoning above lol

Okay , just for debating purposes, how often in real life are you going to be benching 350lbs? Or deadlifting 500?

strong man is like the only realistic lifting form lol.
