    Agreed.

And while you can use straps in strongman, almost every other event outside of the deadlift is a grip based event... Farmers carry, frame carry, rolling thunder, power stairs, deadlift grip holds etc.., and none of those allow straps, only deadlift.

I only use straps for deadlift so I can train how I compete, but even then I still train grip separately and can double overhand 500lbs on an axle bar, or carry 350lbs per hand on a farmers carry. Bottom line, train grip as much as you can. I think its fine to deadlift with straps as long as you work grip somewhere else.

What do you recommend to train grip?

Plate pinches, two arm and one arm hangs, training with fat grips or rolling handles, axle bar deadlift (with a pause on the way up and down), axle bar rows, or literally anything from grip genie aka jujimufu's store lol

Not bad! My family plan is $100/per pay period which is dirt cheap for two people.
I looked at swapping to the PPO for this year for my surgery but its $1010 per pay period... or $2020/mo

I like the advantages of the HSA so I’m happy paying a little more for care throughout the year for just that option alone.

Do they contribute to your HSA for you?

Not sure what type of account the free one is if it’s HSA or HRA. They only gave me the amounts that I will pay (or won’t pay) right now. I don’t get insurance for 60 days so I’m sure they’ll send me all the info in the plans closer to that 60 day mark. I’m guessing they won’t contribute though if it is an HSA

Fun think I learned today on my 5/3/1 deadlifts and the straps/no straps debate. I had to do 545x1 and had versa straps on and barely even made it off the floor. Waited a few minutes and used switch grip and ripped it up no problem. I think no straps allows me to get my hips into better position for sumo and keep a more vertical torso. #itistheway.

It’s one of the more interesting convos we have had in here

Use knee sleeves for squats to help but don’t use wraps to lift.

    Seems legit.

The sleeves aren’t 100% for assistance. They’re for joint protection.

Ya it’s kinda stupid. I don’t really get why it needs to be that long. My last jobs insurance lasts through the end of January though so that’s nice. I just got new contacts with it. Gonna try and get a physical done too before it runs out. Then I’ll have the cobra gap coverage for another month

2 weeks ago at work when we needed a 600 pound steel rack moved about 6 foot over in the yard. Rather than wait 10 minutes for someone with a forklift to show up, I wedged myself between it and the rack next to it and pushed it far enough to lean into it and push using my legs. Or to relate it to trucks, about a month and a half ago when I put a front diff in a taco by close grip benching it into place.

General muscle building has a ton of carryovers, but my main point of that was to not neglect grip because any time you’re pulling on something your grip comes into play a lot more than you think.

I’m a corporate paper pusher, it was probably against the rules for me to be out there in the first place

You know what’s worse than that? Smoking weed whenever your job requires a drug test.
