2020 OR almost as much as a 2019 Pro

Same reason I went new. The same truck, two years older with 80,000 miles was selling for just under what I got mine for new at a different dealer. I got out the door for $31k for my 4x2 sport. Not a crazy amazing deal, but compared to what people probably bought that used one for, I’m happy with the deal

 

These are new models that are just coming in. Of course they are going to be high. Now is not the time to buy a new car

You’re missing the point, which is MSRP is continuing to climb and encroach on full size pricing.

 

True, but given the year end numbers, Toyota could raise prices more, continue to sell out production, and probably not see a decrease this year. Certainly not lose the top spot.

This 2020 pricing has been in place for a full quarter and a half at least depending on how you count any pre-orders.

Prices are climbing, a little. Power seats, updated stereo, etc will do that. It's not that bad though, there's 3k of dealer bs they'd be scraping off if I was gonna buy that truck. Oh $800 for tires? Sweet I suppose the factory tires will be loaded in the bed when I come to pick it up? That "TOYOGUARD" is included with every toyota, either way I'm not paying $700 for 2 oil changes and armor all.

 

Also, haggling is entirely a regional things with tacomas. If you wanted a PRO or an OR with tech and premium in so cal you weren't getting it below MSRP last year. I called 20 dealers and walked out of 5 that wouldn't budge off of the $5000 market adjustment. You can only haggle if there isn't a line of 10 people at the door wanting to buy your truck.

 

I’m not arguing it will continue to sell and continue to hold the top spot in the segment, just the fact the price is getting up there but so is everything else. That and the days of people thinking they can get a full loaded TRD for under $37k are gone as usual savings is 10-15% off msrp having had a few of these trucks.

 

Agreed. There's also the fact that trucks in general are profit machines.

That is even more than they want for a fully loaded TRD OR in Alaska. Our dealer is asking $44,500 for one with every option including leather, sun roof, and terrain monitor cameras. If you shop around on the auto websites, you'll find them for $41K give or take.

 

There’s no missing the point here. Both are factors when looking at purchasing a new truck right now.

 

Obviously a new model year the first few months won’t be as discounted which was your post. The thread was pointing out how much MSRP has gone up. So yes point missed by your initial statement.

 

yep it just kind of makes me wonder how people are affording $50-70k loans on raptors and loaded trucks/suvs especially given stagnant wages and widening wealth gap, the debt bubble is bound to bust at some point

 

Yeah. 2008 will be back again if things continue.

 

Global debt is at an all time high, lots of economists pointing towards it as next recession / correction.

 

I was joking with my dad that I could just sell my truck every 2 years and buy a new one and only be short $1k each time.
