I enjoy welding every now and then, it gives me a break from the mill. I run a 3 axis mill and do all our welding. Sometimes we go months without welding much then sometimes I weld for a month so it all works out. I've done so much welding over the last 30+ years I got burnt out on it.

That's what I like about working here, we don't do production work, mostly prototype stuff. This 22 parts is a lot for us, lol.

Production life is for the people who don’t like to think for themselves. Problem solving and thinking on your feet is hard for lots.

that being said, stupidly boring and would not do it again lol did it for 3 months and hated it.

when i use to work at a SXS shop we would build the things from step 1 to 10.. Cut tube, mark tube, bend tube, notch tube, laser tube, debur tube, weld.. I welded so good they mainly kept me welding (i could deal with gaps & transitions better than 99% of people who can "weld" so it was cool not having to ever really do much than pull a trigger and talk shit about crappy copes/bends. The miller 350p and I made love so well that i saved the company a lot of money - my parts barely ever required clean up prior to Pcoat :)

    What kind of deal ??

How old of Hobart Handler 140 they have been around for sometime.

What are your plans for the welder ??

Not a bad little machine I could!! almost weld everything I have done lately.

You can weld ?? So you can put it through it`s paces

Depending on it`s age and how it looks and how bad you think you need it.

Myself not more then a 1/3 of retail price

The only real differences are a plastic drive roll assembly and maybe tapped voltage depending on age

No real plans for the welder, may try to sale or give to my pops if he likes it. Yes, i can weld and would plan to test it first of course. It looks brand new from the pictures he sent me and said he only used it a hand full of time. Will come with welder, cart, and small bottle. I don't need it but I'm always open for a good deal.

Can you write the code for the Software ??

Looking for off the shelf programs ?

If my walking gets better I might entertain the idea of building one again

I don't write the G code, I let the software generate that.

    I'm slowly learning fusion 360.

Gonna have those tools paid off right quick!

Make sure some $ gets put away to treat yourself to something that has absolutely nothing to do with fabrication.

I had posted up the other day about a really bright arc. Turns out it was indeed the helmet malfunctioning. I confirmed today when I went to weld something else and it didn't dim. Doh! So rather than monkey with it, I grabbed my backup fixed shade 11 one. First time using it and damn it's tricky. I got in position and was like "Alright dope" and flipped the hood down. Then I was so out of whack I had no idea if I was lined up still. Just had to press the "I believe" button and pull the trigger. Got the hang of it quickly but man it was weird at first.

It's been a while since I used a fixed shade helmet. I bet I'm no better.

Definitely took the auto dimming for granted. When I finished a weld I’d sit there and wait for it to stop being dark, only to remember I had a fixed shade on.

Even though I have a Auto Dark hood 35 years of nodding your head is a hard habit to break.

Then so is reaching for the striker that was on your right hip for years to light the Plasma cutter
