2007 TRD OR AC, TSB leafs, tires 265/70/16
Ground to Fender heights (tank 3/4 full):
    PR: 36 1/4"
    DR: 35 5/8"
    PF: 34 1/2"
    DF: 34 1/4"

I'm in the middle of replacing my suspension with 5100's all around. I did the rears, and noticed the leafs are a bit flat. I plan to do the front billys next set at 1.75 with stock coils, as this "should" level out the truck, but I'm concerned it will put the truck nose high.

I would like to do the toytec 1.5" AAL just to be safe, but I've read that if the leafs are flat, then the AAL won't make a difference and to get a new leaf pack. I can't afford that now unfortunately...

So my first question is do the leafs below look too flattened? Or is this how they are supposed to look?

    thumbnail_image0.jpg thumbnail_image1.jpg thumbnail_image2.jpg thumbnail_image3.jpg

Second question, will adding a 1/4" spacer to the drivers front lift that side more than 1/4"? Will it drop the passenger side? Driver v Passenger fronts are off exactly 1/4", which I don't really mind but since I'll be in there already I'm considering the spacer.

    Thank you!

You’ll get a 1/4” with the spacer in the rear. On the front you’ll get roughly double with a spacer on top of the coilover.

By nature of the chassis design the leafs are going to be flat unless you are looking for a big lift. Those leafs are a TSB 3+1 leaf pack and look relatively new. you are fine.

I agree with this, in one of your pics your basically sitting on the overload leaf. I also have the TSB pack and they are junk, I am replacing my leafpacks instead of adding an AAL.

I went with Dobinson Leaf's, Fed ex sent one to the west coast so once that is sorted out and heading back my way I can finally get them installed. CRIKEYMIKE on the forum has been great to deal with for the leaf's, highly recommend.

I've seen worse for sure. They seem about normal to my eye, too.

I've only had RWD Tacos (1st and 2nd), so maybe 4x4 are different. But unless it's an optical illusion, those looks hella flat: like, perfectly flat.

But the real test, is the ride... bottoming out... excessive swaying?

The 2WD/5-lug rear leafs are sprung under axle so I wouldn't be surprised if they have more arch.

FWIW @SByota if you want a comparison pre-lift a stock 4x4 2nd gen Tacoma typically will be around 21.5" to 22" from center of the hub to the fender lip. It's not ideal to use ground to fender because the tire diameter and inflation affects the value.

No bottoming out, but the eye test when comparing to other stock taco's it definitely looks lower. I had the TSB's done maybe 3 years ago, but do a fair amount of hauling. The back portions still have a slight upwards bend, but the front portions bend downwards. I've looked into replacements and I can't find a 5-6 leaf pack. I don't necessarily want the Dakar or equivalent because those will probably ride too high, and the custom Alcan's are $$$.

Thanks. What did those cost shipped? And do you have the ride heights after install?

junkyard leafs is one of the c
They do look a little flat but for what i’ve done to my trucks i’d always recommend pushing out a bit more $ to get brand new leafs if you’re doing a full lift. you’ll thank yourself later. and keep in mind future mods i.e. if you get a canopy or you’re looking to tow you should get a heavier duty leaf pack.

Either one should be about that. I had 3+1 and they were about 21.5" to start.

I'll get better photos tomorrow from an even perspective to hopefully show a more accurate curvature.

Which Dobinsons did you go with? I’m thinking about the 3+2 pack they make.

There's still a little space between main leafs and the overload. They're getting up in age but I've seen some in recurve with negative arch beyond the overload diving board. The tale of the tape will be the answer.

Well, if the eye test is ok, and there's no bottoming out... perhaps... wait? 3 Years, even with hauling, seems fine.

That was my original plan, but as I'm sure everyone here knows, the more I read on TW the more I want to fix/upgrade asap haha. This place is dangerous!

My 1st gen had the sagging frown on the stock leaf spring pack looked horrible I lost an inch. Got a set of aal off of wheelersoffroad.com installed em and gave me 2inchs of lift, doesn't sag at all when hauling a small trailer with an atv. Their reasonably priced too 77.50 for the set. sideshttps://wheelersoffroad.com/wheeler-s-off-road-2-lift-add-a-leaf-set-for-2005-toyota-tacoma.html
