That is the part I love. These guys ARE serious! I can usually sniff out the BS, and often times I can see the naiveté. And yeah, I'm seeing it in some of the threads over there.
Well, the Friday thread thing in here is really worked. Some folks are trying way too hard. But, whatever.

Dude! You chose a very nice machine! I like it. It looks like a solid all around detector.

Very cool! Be careful, it's addicting...
Interestingly, the zinc and copper cents register different audio/numeric values. After a bit of swinging you'll be able to tell before you dig.

i dunno about that, I was just poking around with my shovel. found a couple piece of orange/red brick. What I surmise happened was they ran a skid trail through the dump pile because this stuff is scattered from where the bottles were. Im curious to see what the metal detector picks up. no markings were on that smashed copper pot, I may go get it just for scrap metal. same with the shovel. BUT my hope is theres other tools around there. Digging a little today I did find what looked like a leather belt or maybe a saddle piece and a box spring. surprised the leather was still intact.

I've been looking at getting a metal detector for many years, and yesterday for my birthday my wife bought a Garrett Ace 300 for me. I can't wait to get out!

Sounds good, there should be more bottles than what I found, and these were at the bottom of a pit like cove maybe 7' deep. So Im guessing Im not in the exact area of the dump site. The stove pieces were further down the bank maybe 25', which is why I think its scattered. Moss had covered up the legs and when I was poking around with the shovel I hear the clink of metal. dig, find a stove leg, poke around some more find the trim piece, poke some more find another stove leg. Prob in a 5' area so far have been the stove parts.

@wilcam47 Soooooo, this was back around June 2012 when I found this dry sand hunting in Huntington Beach:

    gear used:
    -ACE250
    -8.5x11" DD
    -GPP
-Garrett Master Sound Headphones (I LOVE these... VERY COMFORTABLE)
-was typically hunting with the sens set to 6,7, or 8max... on occasion was set to 4...
    Jun14_2012_2.jpg

Long story short, it gave off a VERY SOLID "nickel signal". I would sweep one direction, do a 90deg and sweep that direction to, more or less, confirm a solid signal. My heart was POUNDING because I just KNEW it was going to be GOLD!!! I go to sandscoop it and my heart just POUNDED continually I was very happy. Upon inspection, I couldn't find any markings? I bring it home to get a better look and still no markings? It had to be "junk jewelry", which it was confirmed as I found 1x marking on it finally and the company name "stamp" indicated that they make junk gold jewelry, costume jewelry, if you will. I don't remember the name, but I still have it somewhere in my storage unit.

I bring this up hoping that you find gold with your new purchase as well as @samiam :fistbump:
