Honestly I have never run 85 octane so I can't offer any advice - I'd send a message to the Mat's zen help desk and see what advice he offers. Based on your price of 85 octane you must live in a remote area - nice in many regards (lack of population and privacy) and not so nice is others (gas price). Only real advice I can offer is the Tune is the best thing I have done to the truck for performance and shifting - drivability is soooo much better than stock.

85 at altitude is just fine - performs the same as 87 at sea level (except less power due to thinner air). Since the air is thinner, cylinder pressures are slightly lower and thus the ability to run a lower octane. I believe Mat has already commented that there are no issues with the tune in this situation.

Excellent! Thanks for the input on 85 octane y'all. I can't wait to flash a new tune and, hopefully, finally see this truck reach it's potential! The thin air and steep grades out here confuse the shit out of this transmission.

So I did a second part in regards to Ovtune HH. I did a First Impressions Drive and Some well, Attempted some Stock vs Tuned Truck Comparisons! I think it shows a bit but maybe not 100% to everyone. Hope this helps some of yall especially some that may ask in regards to how Ovtune is! Well Just to clarify all this, Ive had my truck for over 3 years now (oct 2016) and ive been running heavy MT tires for about 90-95% of the mileage put on her (56k miles now) and been running 33" 255 85 for almost 2 years! My reactions are all legit!! Thanks again mat for this awesome tune! This was all well worth the wait! Been following this thread/ovtune for a long time and always was itching to have this mod!

Are there any recent developments on getting the 2018 handhelds to work?

Have to try a few tanks of 85 and see how that goes. $.20ish/gallon difference adds up. Costco only has 85 and 91, so haven't gotten gas there since the tune was installed.

    not enough.
Just came on here to say:

I love this tune. got a 70k mileage 2017 and put on the 87 performance tune. Holy smokes what a difference. Love it. Thanks @OVTune for all the work and patience! I got email responses even during their holiday time which was a great pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this mod for anyone dissatisfied with their truck stock tune.

    on to the next mod.

Ditto !!! This tune (2.0 beta) makes a huge improvement over stock..... especially if you’re running larger than stock tires.

Does anyone know if OVtune can be installed on a 2018 TRD Pro with a Windows 10 VM running on a Mac?

I'm running Parallels w/ Windows 10. Previously, I was running VMWare. They both worked.

    It's complicated.
Being that you've used both, is one better than the other? I'm considering adding Windows 10 to my MBP.

    Thanks.

We had something like this happen with a brand new F-450 at work. It was parked in the back of the parking lot next to a tree and some kind of critter got under the hood and chewed up everything they could find. The bill was quite a bit more than $210 though.

I have decided to sell my new (unopened) Toyota Tacoma 2016-2020 Handheld Flash kit.
This handheld is used in conjunction with a Software License purchased from OVTune. If you have already purchased a Software License (like I have) from OVTune then you can use this handheld in place of your laptop. I paid $399 for it from OVTune. I will take $300 and I will ship it for free.

    If interested, PM me.
