Yep, you can feel it. You have to measure from full extension to full lift to order the proper length shock.

Do you have a pic of hour truck? I am currently running the Dakar pack on my regular cab and it’s quite stiff. Considering the deaver pack

You can if you hit the bump stops, but you may not want to figure it out that way if you've got aftermarket springs and shocks but stock bump stops.

Pull your leaf pack apart to remove all the springs other than the main spring.

Compress and extend your single leaf spring while on the truck fully and measure the length at the shock mounting points. You'll then be able to figure out when you'll hit your bump stops for max extended and compressed shock lengths and order what you need accordingly.

Consider removing an overload leaf; that's if you don't carry a considerable amount of weight on the vehicle.

On the Dakar pack? I rarely carry any weight. Also the driver side rear is sagging about a half inch over the passenger side...any idea what could cause that

Driver side has more weight vs the passenger side

gas tank, steering rack, driver, battery, etc.

Each leaf pack will have either a + - or an o

This means it will have slightly more, or less, tension based on the symbol. The one with the + always went on the driver side to account for the weight difference.

And yes, removing an overload leaf will soften things up a bit (but also lose a tiny bit of height).

Has anyone put a AAL in a deaver j59? I carry load on the weekends for beach and camping. Had the springs for atleast 7years. I have ubolt flip kit and relocated shock’s (style / \ ) the rear seems more bouncy then usual, i know these arent meant for heavy load. I can bounce the rear when pushing on bumper to me which seems to soft. I have a deaver AAL im thinking of putting on to help stiff it up alittle. Just wondering if gotta remove a leaf or not to keep same height. Any thoughts??

which spring would you remove? I think I may have them backwards if I’m sitting low then

Did you ever get any information on this. I was thinking about calling over and seeing what they suggest. I'm about to start carrying some weight in the truck and I don't want to be on the bumps the whole time.

About the same in load or more in weight when camping for me too lol. I feel that made mine get super soft. Freeway like skip into other lane when hitting bumps. Think im gonna remove one leaf and put the AAL. Go from there

Man I just came back frome a 400+mile trip with that load it was pretty good the whole way. I didn't experience my truck jumping lanes. just jumping over cattle guards. I did have it hit the bumps on the big speed humps buy my house coming home but it think my shocks could have been pretty warm.
I think when I get a tire carrier its gonna be a different story though.

let me know when one of you guys "upgrade" to stiffer leaf packs - I'd be interested in the j59s...

I've had my J59's on my for 6 years now and I'm ready to get them checked out to see if they've lost tension. I emailed and called Deaver today, but was unsuccessful in getting through. I'm considering an AAL, new springs, lift blocks, or possibly a re-arch if Deaver recommends it. 60k+ miles and they're too soft and have lost lift. Funny thing is these have been 99% street miles and I don't beat on it. I have Solo Motorsports rear hoop shock mounts with 10" shocks so I could use the travel, but considering going back to a more HD leaf pack.
