I am wanting to add a OEM style roof rack to my 19 Tacoma. My question is, would it be worth paying what Toyota wants for an OEM rack or one of the multiple options they sell on Amazon and ebay. There is such a wide price margin but if the Toyota one would fit better and be easier to install, I don't know if I would want to try a cheaper one.

I would go for OEM Toyota, personally. Some of the knock-off racks are pretty flimsy. OEMs are overpriced for what they are, but they're still better than the alternative.

Safe to go OEM or more reliable brands like Prinsu as well. Prinsu is $$$ but is worth it if you're dedicated to using the rack frequently.

Here is a good video showing the aftermarket rack, they do seem to be pretty decent. I have been looking at one of these racks for awhile now, all the reviews usually say that the rack is pretty good, instructions suck, and sometimes things dont line up or bolts are wrong. So it may take a little bit of modifying of the rack (not the truck) to get it installed.

I've been happy with my OEM rack for what it is.

    Mods? Yes.
So not much different than the OEM?

I still would recommend the OEM one as others have said, but it is certainly not a quality product for its price. The metal bracket in the front always needs to be aligned; the instructions even say to use an awl to pry it into alignment. I definitely think they could have made a better rack that is easier to weather proof.

I waited around till someone on here was looking to get rid of a factory rack. He traded straight up for my roof moulding. Worked out great for both of us, apparently the moulding isn't cheap to buy.

Can confirm, I have a Prinsu and I love it. It has been more than enough for anything I've used it for so far.

There are stories on here of knockoff racks not lining up. I added the OEM rack and like it fine for long boards and kayaks and stuff like that. I like puttingheavy stuff low and in the bed, so I don’t need a really burly rack. Sell your ditch moulding to someone needing to hack one up for a Prinsu. I think I got ~$80 for mine.

Baja Rack https://www.bajarack.com/store/Taco...satellite-antenna-cutout-2005-2020-p103876765 that came off my 2012 which, according to their application guide fits 05-Current. Needs paint but otherwise in good shape. $250 - located in northeastern NC.

No drilling required. Installation video on above link. Figure on two people and about an hour. Mine was on for seven years and 150K miles with no leaks or other problems.

Im taking the OEM Roof Rack off my Taco and replacing it with an UpTop rack. I would be happy to trade for drip channel or just cover shipping and its yours.
I just don't want it hanging in my garage, I have enough parts in there right now :)

I recently took off a Yakima baseline setup. I know it can hold more weight than the OEM one but I think I like the look of the OEM better and I really only have it on for throwing kayaks on in the summer. Keeping an eye out for one

I'd be up to trading my OEM rack for someone else's molding here in the near future. I about to purchase an upTOP as well.

I am looking for an OEM rack as well. Would be happy to pay shipping and swap my drip channel for one. :)
