Ok guys, I won my Fantasy Football pot this year, so I got some cash burning a hole in my pocket. I'm very interested in the SCX10 Honcho, but wanted to see if you guys have a recommendation for a vendor. Axial has them listed at $329.99, is there a better deal out there? Does anyone have one they want to unload? Thanks guys.

Just make sure you're looking at a SCX10.2, not the old school SCX10. Contact Bill @ Lonestar Hobbies in Dallas/Richardson. He keeps stuff in stock and will offer a discount many times. If you go to Hobbytown, most locations offer a 10% discount if you tell them you're a part of North Texas Scale Crawlers group on FB (whether you are or not).

Congrats on the win! Amain hobbies is a good site, or your local hobby shop is what i would suggest to purchase one. Just know that you will also need a battery and battery charger.

Well, since ARMNHMR is Sat night, maybe I can just make a day trip to Gilmer. I just remembered I'm dog/house sitting for my sister that weekend so no camping anyway.

I would lookin I to the 10.2 builders kit, also. It’s basically the chassis components and then you provide your own electronics. It will cost more than the RTR version, to get it rolling, but you won’t spend your $ twice when you start upgrading, etc. Just another option!

Also would need a body, wheels & tires etc. Unless you're really going to dive head first into this hobby, stick with a Ready to Run model.

You would need to buy a Flysky remote for about $40, but this is a pretty good deal. Guy is asking $200 now

Anyone feel like making a trip to Big Rocks before comp season really gears up? Sunday looks like decent weather

Just recently started to realize that I my flysky may not be QUITE as smooth as some of the higher quality remotes, but my FlySkygt3b has been kicking since I purchased my first crawler aprox two years ago, so don’t let the price fool you.

I like the idea of big rocks, between sat and sun, gonna be some miles laid down this weekend!

Wife and I were down there a few years ago and saw a guy with a serious rig working through some obstacles. He was being observed by a guy with a clipboard. I had no idea what was going on, but I was like a kid again! It was super cool.

That sounds like one of the usual competitions. Being on the clock getting judged definitely adds pressure, but a lot of fun. Big Rocks is pretty far for many of us, so we usually only go on comp days. We need some wheel time out there before the comp next month. It will be a comp with 2 man teams...winches and tow straps will be required. It's a No Hand of God event, meaning you can't touch it if you fall/roll over. You must use a winch or a partner to get your rig back on all 4 wheels.
