one thing i will say about the pask makes drawers...they are heavy duty!

 

Memory foam is great when it's warmer, it sucks when it gets cold. It gets a lot firmer.

 

And the gel foam I recommend gets firmer still. I have to admit that I have a 12v membrane heater under the mattress to keep mold away and of course exploit the warm bed side effect regularly.

 

Again, go to a Foam Store to buy your foam.

Got a cargo net in a couple days ago



Now I got a 4 inch memory foam topper to try and see if I could sleep on the floor with it but it wasn't dense enough and my ribs were in the floor



so I bought this one and am gonna try it this weekend



I'm gonna work on the platform once I decide what matress I'm gonna use. I'll be on this mattress everyday for 1 to 3 months

 

Please share how that works out. I was going the same route this spring with my setup.

 

I went with this tri-fold model so I could store stuff near the tailgate. Pretty happy with it. Comfortable on a carpet lined platform.

How did it feel density wise?

 

Probably somewhere in the middle? It's not a dual layer or anything fancy but I don't bottom out at 185lbs. I'd been sleeping on backpacking pads so it's a huge upgrade to me.

 

If I had seen that one I woulda got it, I like the idea of the folding option

 

On the Foam I recommend buying from a Foam Store direct. You get exactly what you want comfort wise going this direction.

 

Anyone have a recommendation for a mattress if your husky lol

where are you putting it? If it’s in your truck bed, I love my Exped MegaMat, it’s combination foam and air, so you wont crush the foam all the way like what could happen in an equally thick foam mattress, or you can choose to have a firmer sleeping surface. It is 3.9” thick. I have a 6’ bed, and the length for the regular size is perfect, you might be more interested in the duomat regular which is a roomier pad, it might even fit between the wheel wells, and then you can lie a little more diagonally in your bed to have room to sleep. The only con is steep price, but it’s a stout build, and if you buy it at REI, you have a year to decide if it works for you. Good luck!
