I am always uneasy when I am in a store or restaurant with someone that has a pistol on their side. Are they a protector or are they a crazed shooter.
Even if it is for protection are they going to be the type person that will pull it to be the tough guy and accidentally shot someone?

yep, which is why I carry an LCP and would not ever pull it unless within 15' of someone.

nothing would be worse than to miss a shot and hit someone.

15' at the range with LCP is easy, maybe closer to under 10' in high stress.

Hope to never be in that situation of course.

Crazy messed up people can buy legally. I support everyone's right to own and carry and have carried one in my car but I will never open carry. I try to never put myself in a position that I think I need a gun if at all possible. I would rather be shot than to live my life thinking I need a gun to protect myself at Walmart or Cracker Barrel. I know people are shot every where but I will never allow that to scare me enough to feel I need to carry a gun. The looks that small kids have on their faces when they see a gun really bothers me. I saw a child get out of her seat and grab her mom screaming and crying because she saw a man with a gun on his side. I personally just don't want to put that kind of thoughts into a child or me.

I agree I feel like the people who carry it in the open for everyone to see inst the type that should have it on them. I feel usually the people who actually are practicing concealed carry are the ones who actually know how to use it and should be carrying the gun.

Exactly, it's not something I think about. Having it in my truck having it on me. I'll forget it's there after a while.

Also if it comes to it my life or there's it's always there's.

it's a preference, also most of those with open carry probably have more than one gun on them as well. I see no problem with it, maybe they want to carry one with more shots in it, maybe it's a double stack .45... who knows, but I don't think much of it.

I understand what you saying too but one could say that raising kids teaching values and responsibility concerning human life would solve the issue of needing to carry one too. I raised both my boys and grand kids teaching them the dangers and benefits of guns. I have several gun and my grandson wants to shot them every time he comes over. I just hate that a child or anyone has to feel their world is so messed up that they have to live in constant fear. To me that is what seeing a gun in a place I go to relax and have a good time does to everyone there. Like I said I support all gun laws we now have and the right to open carry, its just not for me.

Toyota dealership near me has a rental car division. They gave me one while my frame was being replaced and if I carried full coverage insurance (they req. that) then I would.of rented from them a couple other times. They had the best deal. They don't have a lot of choices for vehicles though you kinda got what they had for what you were looking for.

I can see that. My mom ran into an instance back when she was a teacher and they were on a field trip at the zoo. Her kids were throwing rocks into the coin pond:rofl:. Anyways there was a guy who didn't like that and started yelling at them so naturally my mom comes over to ask why he is yelling at her kids. He tells her what they are doing and she goes over to stop them. He then comes over to her again and says y'all better stop that. Mom tells him i got this and then he looks at her and then looks down at his gun on his belt and puts his hand by it. I feel like those types of people with open carry should never be allowed to have a gun. He was threatening her for no reason basically. I guess it was a power complex or something. I feel like the guy who is trying to not make his gun presence less know is wanting it more for actual protection. Not saying that open carry isnt as well i just feel like most people aren't that way.

Agreed but if there is a need to carry the fear of what maybe is the reason. Me personally will never have a gun on me that will remind me of that fear while I am trying to live my life. Now if I am going to a place I know is not a good place for me to be you can bet you life I will be carrying.

I've agreed 100% with everything you've posted and feel the same way.

I also generally don't carry because it's physically uncomfortable to me. I don't even like having a cell phone on my waist band, and I don't like wearing a belt honestly either. a gun on my hip concealed or not is just uncomfortable to me.

That is what bothers me a lot, they are a lot of those kind of people. If that guy did that to my wife he would either have to shot me or I would stick that gun up his ass.

I agree, carrying or not I don't go anywhere I feel I may be in danger.

I'm not an officer, I'm not looking for trouble, but if trouble finds me I'm prepared.

I don't carry out of fear, I carry out of preparation. I don't carry every single place I go, but I always keep one in the vehicle with me, so does Jeannie and our oldest daughter is about to take some handgun courses, so she can also be prepared. I refuse to be a victim, no matter where I go, or who I'm with. Full size, compact, but most of the time, a double action Derringer is part of my EDC, along with a pocket knife and small flashlight. Fortune favors the prepared.
