So I recently got a personalized plate and I also have a license plate back up camera. The backup camera is covering up the letters on my plate, I was wondering if I could buy a tailgate handle backup camera and tap it into the liscence plate camera.

    Thanks yall!

What's your current setup? aftermarket radio wired to the license plate cam? I would ditch the plate cam and just go with a tailgate handle camera. The tailgate camera,IMO, is much more useful since you can see the edge of your rear bumper when parking.

I currently have the liscence plate cam. It's an Ibeam. Can I tap the tailgate handle camera into the already wired liscence plate cam. Also what brand is the best when it comes to the tailgate camera

You can't run 2 cameras off one input and also if you are referring to the factory tailgate camera, the answer is no. The OEM camera runs off different voltage than an aftermarket cam. For a tailgate handle camera, look into an aftermarket one like the one sold by Crutchfield. This one is wired similar to your iBeam license plate cam.

I hope I'm not derailing this thread, and since my search didn't turn up much, I'll ask here:

Where are you guys tapping in to the reverse signal for the head unit reverse cam wire?

Going to put a camera and new head unit in my wife's 2006 TRD Sport.

    Thanks!

Depending on how your camera setup is, you could tap at the reverse light bulb at either reverse lights, or you can run the power (reverse tap) line all the way back up to under the dash and tap into the fuse block that's in the cab which is the route I would take. The other route would have you ensuring your connections are water tight. Me personally, I wired straight into the stock reverse light wires on my 12 because it was there. When I removed my tailgate I lost the built in backup cam.

Sounds good. Wasn't sure if there was a slick/factory way to do so thought I would ask, but looks like I'll just Posi-tap into the reverse fuse or the sensor wires on the tranny.
