Something like that parked beside me at Cabela's last weekend. Pretty sweet setup.

This is far from being set in stone as I have to get the GF on board. I really want to move to the upstate in 5 years. The original plan was to move to TN but since my family is here and her family lives in the upstate, it's more realistic. I do NOT want to live in Greenville or Spartanburg. And I will need a job.

Having said that, where's a good area to live that I can get a decent house on at least 15 acres for a decent price? Preferably surrounded by woods and few neighbors. Somewhere I can shoot on my own land. Out in the country but not too far from civilization.

I'm used to living in Lugoff. It's close enough to Columbia for work and yet has decent restaurants (and a killer Mexican restaurant) and shopping in Camden. I'm trying to get the same setup, just in the upstate. But also more land.

Edit: Just looking at Google maps, it seems like the Westminster area would be good. A small town but the bigger town of Seneca close by. Maybe I could get a job at Lowe's. They like hiring Vets.

Anderson is a nice area. Not nearly as big as Greenville, but still have access to good shops, restaurants, etc in town. Easy access to Lake Hartwell and I-85. You're an hour from the mountains, 2 hours from Atlanta, and 4 hours from the beach.

Looking at that much land, you'd probably have to look in the outskirts of Anderson...Townville, Pendleton, somewhere like that.

I generally peruse realtor.com to get ideas. But nothing beats info from people living in those areas. She's actually from the Anderson area. I'll look into that area as well.

I actually gave them a quick glance before buying the jeep. Had I seen a pic of this one beforehand...who knows. :notsure:

Check out landwatch.com when you're looking for property, too. If you can find something outside Greenville county you will save a good chunk on property taxes. My choice would have been somewhere around Liberty or Pickens if we hadn't ended up in Greenwood.

I like the Greenwood downtown area. But I've only driven thru it on the way to Iva. What's it like living there?

Honestly, kinda meh. We end up going to Greenville a lot, but I have family up that way, too. We live and work here, and we have reasons to stay put, but I dunno if I would recommend it to anyone unless you can get something near the lake, or in one of the nicer neighborhoods, which is what we did. We used to rent a place on the lake, then bought a house just outside of town.

You can definitely find land around here, though, and we have a Lowe's and some pretty good non-chain restaurants. The BBQ festival every year is a definite bonus.

Wow.. you've been to Iva.. one of those, "if you blink, you'll miss it" places. Only things there is a Burger King and Crescent High School.

I bought my desk at home from a lady and her daughter in Iva. Drove through there the other day on the way back from Lavonia. That might be the only two times in my life I've been there.

had one. Loved it, but needed more interior space and wanted something with actual 4x4. Traded mine for my current truck.

They lack power and the cvt kinda sucks, otherwise great car.

    Oh yeah. That. Definitely that.

15 premium i think (No leather). Average around 30 currently. It got shipped out here, but would pull 33ish? on our trips out east (cinci/knoxville/charlotte)
