Hey everyone I just finished installing a Dobinsons 2” quick ride lift as well as the ECGS bushing while everything was apart. I now have a heavy vibration at all speeds but especially when decelerating and accelerating through the 1200 rpm range. I’ve read about drive shaft issues etc but I’m not real sure where to start. I don’t feel anything in the steering wheel just in the floor board. I had absolutely no vibrations prior to today and unfortunately a buddy and I installed everything so there isn’t a shop to fall back on. Thanks in advance!

How much did the kit lift the rear? And how?

Edit: I just googled it. Looks like a 2inch rear spacer. As far as I know that is too much without it being tapered. I would look into a 2inch tapered block.

    Mods? Yes.
I'm not familiar with that kit, but if it included a rear lift, maybe you need to do the carrier bearing drop kit?

I’d suggest a carrier bearing drop. After that you can take a closer look at pinion shims to ensure your angles are where they need to be to cure the vibes.

Measuring the block it appears to be slightly tapered at 2 1/8 on one end and approx 1 3/4 on the other with the high side forward on both sides.

The high side should be towards the rear. That's your problem.

Pinion angles are funny. It was probably stated somewhere in really small print on the install instructions for that lift too, but a spacer lift is so straightforward that I wouldn't read them either.

Dobinsons lift comes with a spacer in the rear? Gross. Hope you get it figured out OP.

Vibration FIXED. A huge thank you to everyone for the quick replies. The lift either didn’t come with instructions or I lost them, but both rear spacers were backwards. I’m coming to a Tacoma from 4Runners so this has been a learning experience with the leaf springs. I retook the block measurements while they were off the truck and it is 1 7/8” in the front and 2” in the rear. I was absolutely scared to death that I had messed up a perfectly good truck! Thank you again!!

Dobinsons offers an AAL option but I chose this route as I only routinely carry 75-100 lbs in the bed most days. I was afraid an AAL would cause too stiff of a ride. Once a shell goes on in the future I may go that route though. I’ve run spacer “lifts” on 4Runners with mixed results. I’d much prefer a full suspension lift but time will tell how the rear spacers do.

That's awesome, you fixed that quick!
Sorry, my post came off a little rude. What I meant to say was, I'm not a fan of spacers. I ran them for a short time. Enjoy your bad ass truck!

How bad were the vibrations on the floorboard? Just lifted and have some...maybe vibrations in the floorboard. More like I can kind feel the road...idk how to explain it lol. But wondering if I need rear shims.

Sorry for the delay I wasn’t receiving emails that people were posting in the thread. The vibrations were very similar to hitting the rubble strip while on the interstate with them worsening when the truck shifted gears. Hope you get it figured out. Nothing worse than being excited about a new mod just to find something wrong.

So far so good on the lift. Wheels and tires went on this past Monday with trimming required to fit the 285/70/17 Falkens. I went with the heavier coil due to having a SSO slimline bumper and the ride is still stiff, but doesn’t beat you to death. I’d be interested to see how it road with the Dobinson’s standard weight coil.
