So the trick to this is to then ask another dealer for their best trade in offer without negotiating new truck price, then take that to the dealer with the better price on the new truck and have them match it.

Yes! But they’ve actually admitted before it’s all about the bottom line and refused matching piecemeal numbers because at the end of the day it wouldn’t make sense profit wise.

If you can get the dealer up to 28.5 and with the tax brake I think you would be good .

Those options hold value. But I do like the new SR grill & the utilitarianism of that simple truck but that's how I ended up in a FJ too. Plus, I was guilty of not using the bed very much, but I also have an 88 Toy truck for truck stuff

Agreed, a nicely lifted SR looks hands down better than a over modded TRD, nice and clean, simple truck. I can't stand my 19 grille, but don't like the Bro Pro grille and not sold on the 20 grill yet either so just dealing for now, the 20 new grille does look fantastic.

I'd stick to around 30 for that truck, they can sell for 32 and make financing too, plus they'll make at least a grand on you 4R purchase, at least in volume bonus.

What was MSRP on the vehicle you want? What was the discount off MSRP? Another Tacoma?

Yep, plus holdback, etc. if you put it back to stock they can certify it and charge another $1-2k for it. I'd tell them $30k trade in, whatever you negotiated for the T4R and just let it sit. I bet you get a call at somepoint.

It was 12% off MSRP + 799 dealer fee before tax title license. That was for a 4R TRDOR with a MSRP of 41,340.

not a lot of incentives on 2020 4R at that time, will try again late this year

Any dealer is going to underestimate the value. I sold my old '13 in a private sale via carguru for 5k over Carvana and most local dealerships.

I’ve always liked the SRs and the 2020’s have apple CarPlay. If I were to buy another Tacoma I’d get a SR V6 4x4 DCSB and build it up.

Edit: and in BLACK! Look so good when clean.

Trade in value is not private party value.

The profit motive is what keeps the world turning

Dunno about you but I made a hard rule about 10 years ago about selling a manual transmission vehicle private party. I almost had to hide a body after I was assured the twatwaffle grinding the fuck out of my truck had been driving manual transmissions for years. He wouldn't pull over so I yanked the brake at a light, kicked him out about a mile from where we met, and made him walk back.

Private party is always a cluster fuck. When I sold my 85 4WD Toyota truck the guy was going 90 MPH and claimed it wasn't fast enough. The speed limit was 55. Nope he didn't buy it. I'm not sure why he drove from 4 hours away in a beat to fuck 5th gen Accord

I've had people drive HOURS and they didn't even bring cash with them. Just romp on my vehicle then drive home in LA traffic. Some real winners out there.
