    Same crap everyone else got
We should call up the dealer ship and ask about the truck. When they said it's not available, we should offer way more than asking so they will cancel OP's deal in hopes for more cash. Then we bail on our side! :fingerscrossed:

Hopefully OP went with another vehicle.

Walk away from this one. If dealer wants to replace frame, let them do it on their own time and not while you are under contract.

If you still want to buy the vehicle, look at it after they put it back together. Test drive it to your local mechanic so they can give it a look over.

    All dealers are different.
Seems this one is not so good.
Others have mentioned this dealer being bad.
Our capitol city seems crappy also a guy at work bought a tundra had the rear tires smoked bald.
Took them over a month and numerous trips for him to get his mismatched rear tires replaced.
    It’s winter here in Vt.
Really hoping you can get your $ and look elsewhere.
My dealer did an amazing job doing my frame.
So I’m gonna say find something with a new frame.
Motors etc can be fixed the frame not so much.

I am having trouble with this starting today. I bought my 06 5 years ago. 3-4 years ago I noticed after i got the letter my frame had deep rust, so I took in to be inspected and the dealer told me it wasn't bad enough I didn't qualify that wasn't what they were looking for. Fast forward to this weekend; my left leaf spring breaks just like in the other recall almost hit my gas tank. I took it in this morning to get that fixed and for them to take another look at the frame (I wasn't aware of the dates i am now) the service writer put on the ticket for it to be looked at anyway. I get a call at 10:00 am and they say not only is my frame to rusty to pick the truck up on the lift with but the mechanic said its unsafe to drive. They will not do any work on my truck they declined it and said if I can fix my frame myself then i can bring it back and they'll do the springs then. Any advice? I tried I went in and had it looked over and they obviously did a %^&* inspection and sent me on my way. I don't know what to do. It needed to be fixed when I brought it in the first time. If anyone has any ideas or similar experiences it would be GREATLY appreciated.

3 or 4 years ago, the lawsuit settlement wasn't finalized. It's unfortunate that someone doing an oil change on it 1 1/2 years ago didn't look at the frame and go, "Holy crap, that's bad". Then you could have gotten Toyota to put a new frame under it. Unfortunately, now you are too late with your 2006.

It was late 2016 and I had a letter that said go get your truck inspected for the class action bs. My point is they are now refusing to do recall work due to the fact that my frame that they said was fine cannot support my truck on a lift, and renders my truck unsafe to drive. They asked if after the first inspection why I didn't bring it back if the rust had gotten that much worse, well service manager it was deep rust the first time. It's obviously only going to get worse. Duh. Also forcing me to pay another shop to try to patch my frame up with plates or something I can't even imagine. I just feel screwed. i love my truck i payed it off in august after 5 years of owning it, i'm 25 I detail trucks at a dealership I don't have fat stacks of money laying around. My truck is usless because of their lack of giving a crap when they looked at it, after 5 years and 100k miles the blackbook value only dropped 3k. I was just getting it broke in. Do you think i am in the wrong for thinking this? or could I negotiate for them to at least let me have the springs put on if nothing else can be done? I am a little mad so I could be overthinking but everyone I have told my story (local mechanics, father, co workers) have told me to keep trying im right, but hopefully I can get some more here.

Mine lived in MA previous owner until I got so I knew there would be rust I bought it via online auction but there was a return period, but like I said I love this truck. V6 Crew Cab SR5 4x4 manual 6 speed. NOT readily available when you want to buy one. and I saw the rust when I got it but didn't really look until it was brought to my attention by the chunks of my hitch falling off as I put the sleeve in the receiver, then I got the letter and thought I would obviously qualify for at least the undercoat that would prevent it going any further and who knows if I had gotten it I probably wouldn't be having these issues because it's been on multiple lifts since then and only now is unsafe.

I am so sorry your in this spot!!
    Never trust the dealer.
Wish I had something better to say,
Knowing Toyota has had frame issues since the 90’s but we’re standing proud at the time I bought another one this a 08 in 11.
Figured Toyota would stand behind it like before.
If not for the Warner’s class action my loved tacoma would be scrap.

I have trouble buying ground beef "as is" at the supermarket. I would never buy a vehicle "as is."

In case you didn't know...a car dealer NEVER has your best interest in mind, NEVER. There is no such thing as a good dealer, they all screw you, no matter what you think. If you think you got a good deal, they got a better one. It's a fact (worked at a dealership years back). They train you to LIE and CHEAT and STEAL. They polish turds and make them all shiny and everyone goes "Ooo" and "Ahh".

Unless you are buying new, NEVER go to a dealership. Better used deals can be found from private parties.

    That is all.

    This just my opinion -
    I'm on my 4th Taco, 2 1st gen, 2 2nd Gen
The first 3 frames rusted out
I would not by a 2nd gen without a new frame or one that is still cover by the Toyo frame coverage

My first gen 98 passed to frame inspections twice after I sold it to a friend and then about 3 yrs ago developed huge holes in the frame

Do you have like a local TV Station you can contact like a Consumer Action Line like we have here in PHX they love stories like that and dealers hate it to get something done?

Yes but I did give them one last chance to see if they would help, now I know they won't. I will definitely look into that I am consulting an attorney currently though. Not gonna let this one slide. If I get any updates I will post. It seems like overall most people have had easy experiences with this I can't find many horror stories

This thread is getting confusing. Too many different trucks being discussed on the same thread instead of making their own thread. @nineteen64, have you been able to resolve this?
