Anything welding

I let our son strike an arc one day when I took him with me to work, he was 5. I had to use the fixed shade to watch him. We do take the auto darkening for granted, it’s been many years since I used a fixed shade.

 

I actually put up my auto shade lenses and use a fixed shade primarily now

 

I did the same thing with my daughter.
Shop guy gave me two broken fixed shades and I scavenged parts to make one good one.
Daughter wanted to help with her boot rack.

 

That’s awesome, she’ll never forget that.

A few pics of my headlights hoops I made.

 

With the blanket covering the front end of the truck I though those were going to look like nerd spectacles on the front of your truck. Once there were painted and the truck uncovered I think they look more like and angry dung beetle or wasp some other exoskeleton insect. Excellent choice!

 

Yeah,it looks funny in pictures, like my truck got bifocal glasses on. I actually made those to attach a mild exocage to.

Made this for a customer. They are going to slide it on their forklift forks and wanted to be able to pick up 7K pounds. The small clevis is rated for 10K. Not sure how they plan on attaching it so it doesn’t slide. Their design, not ours.

 

Multiple ways

They’ll throw a chain around it and tie it back

They’ll just angle the forks up

or they have a forklift where the forks spread on a switch and can use the spread function to tighten the forks in it

Roger that! I didn't think about spreading the forks for pressure, we don't have a forklift and my forks on my tractor aren't hydraulic, they are manual

 

I only speak from experience cause I have seen all ways used

This is the closest pic I have. I tried to mock up a few different designs, but because of the short center hoop, that is the nicest I could come up with.

 

I also thought about making the height of the hoops shorter, but the height that it is at now was about the minimum needed to uninstall the headlights. The headlight assembly fits through the hoop hole to replace.

 

Also welding related, I plug welded all of the tube clamps on my truck.

 

I feel your pain on that double bend. Those are pains to get perfect whenever doing something you can only visualize in your head lol. Good work man
