So random question. Is there, yet, a "plug and play" Access Cab roof rack? I mean one that you can just drill into the skin to mount vs having to cut and trim things off the rack itself to make it fit. I seem to remember Prinsu makes one, but are there others?

I doubt there will ever be an access cab rack like that as the roof of the access cabs weren't setup to even accept an OEM Tacoma rack.

Im not sure what you are asking, Yes PrinSu makes a rack specfic to the Access cab, no mods to the rack required but a good deal of roof work to install as the roof is not factory set up for a rack..as the gentleman in the above post states...This is my rack on my access cab

Sorry, I thought I was pretty clear. I know Prinsu makes a rack. Does anyone else make a rack as well?

I mentioned drilling into the roof as not being an issue. I mentioned modifying the rack as being an issue.

So does anyone, other than Prinsu, make an Access cab rack?

I hope that clears things up.

Edit: Oh I see where you may have been confused. "drill into the skin" is drilling into the roof. The top of the roof is a single skin metal sheet. Roof is commonly referred to as "skin" when it comes to vehicles. F150s have a double skin, Tacomas have a single skin, etc.

I can't seem to find the venders section. I used to know where it was located, lol. I need to figure out the forum's rules on venders/vendors section. I want to sell Tacoma parts here on TW. At first it won't be an "official licensed business" so I need to figure out if that's ok too. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Old thread is old. I already have Q Towers. I'm looking for racks like the Prinsu. I appreciate that you're trying to help, thank you.

Does anyone else know if there's any OTHER racks built other than the Prinsu. Competition is the mother of innovation. Before I settle, I wanted to see if there were other options and all the threads I see on here are several years old.

If there's nothing else, that's fine. I'm just hoping others have the opportunity to chime in if they've seen something.

I was thinking more of a retrofit. If you look at the images below, The Subaru Forester and Toyota Tacoma driver seats are very similar. I haven't specked anything out yet but seems plausible.

So, I build custom racks, here's one on my bed, I make them per order because everybody wants something different. Not sure where your located but they usually come pick them up because shipping is brutal on big items20191110_160826.jpg 20191110_160839.jpg

That’s pretty slick. Got a link to that? I did do a quick google search but probably used wrong terms.

My version would be a retrofit of the customer's existing seat. I haven't worked on it at all yet other than in my head and extensively studying the seat. Other than a drill with a drill bit it would be a bolt on plug and play type of deal. The control is the only tricky part. Matching the knob that's already on Tacoma seats seems like a good idea to me. Making it a power seat instead of manually operated gets rid of the control being an issue but then the electric motor with custom gears becomes an issue for me the hypothetical manufacturer. I really don't want to retrofit an existing seat, for example the Subaru seat you showed, because then I would need to rely on others for supplying the Subaru seat (as an example), shipping costs would significantly go up by having to ship an entire seat, then there would be upholstery matching issues, etc... It would be a far better setup to retrofit the customers existing Tacoma seat, IMO.
