I bought a 2020 TRD OF Premium with all options and now when she has to go somewhere while I'm at home, she takes my truck instead of her 2018 Camry XSE. I asked her if she could see herself daily driving a Taco and now she's all about getting one, but it has the be THE ONE.

I'm looking at getting her either the TRD OR Premium with all options just like mine but in black or the Limited 4WD in black. The reason I'm looking into the Limited is because with all the options, it will come out to be a few grand cheaper and my rig will end up being the one we use off-road. Her main issue is that she wants everything to be black and the interior pieces around the head unit in the Limited show to be silver online as mine is more of a gunmetal. I told her on the exterior I can black out all the chrome for her, so the exterior shouldn't be an issue.

My question is which truck would be easier/cheaper to "murder out"? The chrome pieces in the interior can be changed using Meso Customs and AJT Design (just did mine), and the exterior can be replaced with stock parts. We're already talking about leveling it with a set of light mud tires and black wheels along with a new grill.

    Mods? Yes.
Check out Limiteds on AutoTrader for the actual color. toyota.com renders are completely off.

Modding the interior should be virtually identical

Seems a bit counter intuitive to have 2 tacomas in one household, be better served having another option like a T4R, etc. The nightshade T4Rs are "murdered out" and gorgeous IMHO. But if she really wants one why not.

Yeah definitely would try to steer her towards the 4Runner. It's basically a tacoma more usable interior space. Perfect combo for a family. Think about it this way- is she actually going to use a truck bed or would it benefit her to have more cargo room? Same vehicle IMO

Traded in my T4R for the Taco and she needs to have 4WD with a move to New Mexico near Colorado happening sometime soon. She didn't like the 4Runner compared to the Taco, and the only other vehicle she was looking was the Lexus RX350 F Sport. She mentioned having a tonneau cover to make hers more versatile with utilizing the bed differently than mine.

    Yeah.
I agree with this, may want her to test drive a 4Runner so you have some options. It sits up high and drives nicely, it's all my wife will drive. The Limited is really nice and has the center diff, but I think my wife's has some wood accents or something.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see she's already tried it. But that full-time 4WD with center diff is really nice.

Just a thought. Is it possible your wife likes driving the taco because it’s the new shiny thing?

Did you like your 4R before you traded it? Even if she drives your taco, you can have the best of both worlds, an empty wallet and two different vehicles. :anonymous:

She didn't drive the 4Runner when I had it, and her car is fun to drive. She has the exact one Toyota debuted with the two-tone paint and red leather.

Sounds like she doesn't really need a truck or bed and all tonneau's leak. She's not gonna be able to just throw her new clothes, bags, groceries etc. in there without things coming out of bags, water getting in, etc like a trunk. It sounds like she doesnt want to be driving a boring camry and I don't blame her, but having two tacomas one household seems a bit silly, maybe you drive the sweet new T4R and give her the taco or like you mentioned looking at the RX350 F she likes which also makes one think she really doesnt need a truck. But again your money and your taste / happiness, so go for it, but nice to have options for household vehicles. I know I'll catch flame for this but has she driven a new JLU Rubicon?

Only kept it two years... it drove well but there was no "I love this thing" going on at all.

I will always recommend a lightly used, fresh off lease, Lexus GX 460. My wife loves hers.

Autotrader shows to have the gunmetal interior pieces! Thanks!

Y’all are making this poor man’s life worse. He already has a wife telling him she won’t take a 4x,xxx $$$ truck unless some plastic bezel is black and now he has all of you telling him to do something his wife told him not to haha. There’s obviously no hope for getting nuts back or out of debt unless he really really wants to. Just tell him which brand new truck trim will make his wife happy for a few months. Stop trying to make any sense ;)

Those are nice! I'll never buy a new Lexus with the resale value nowhere near the Tacoma, so it would definitely be certified pre-owned.
