ABS, Brake! & Traction Control lights on

please tell me more about techstream. does it check ABS and traction control and airbag codes? looking for a code reader or cable that connects to pc to do all of this.

 

Yes it reads all computers in the trucks. It is the software the factory and dealers use. There should be usb options.

This thread is a gem! with the info within I tracked my issue down to a broken wire above the second connector which supplies power to the Passenger rear speed sensor. All good now, thanks fellas!

I have this issue but also my speedometer stopped working stays at zero. Are these issues somehow related? It all happened at the same time. No abs, traction co trim, cruise, no speedo and mileage is no longer climbing.

 

Yes, they are alll related to the wheel speed sensors. I have had a single sensor not functioning and all related functions remain working. I’m wondering how many functioning sensors it needs to stay functionial. I have an 07 and doesn’t have a traction control

Rock auto doesn’t have this part in stock- local Toyota dealer wants 270 plus tax and it’s back ordered from lordco. Napa can’t get it. Where are people getting this wiring harness? Part number 89516-04060

 

My right rear went out and had all the same indications. Mine was a bad wheel bearing.

This will only apply to autos, the manuals use a gear driven sensor at the transfer case output - not the wheel sensors. I'm guessing you're an auto.

 

Incredible write up. Shocked to see how common this issue is. Tacomaworld saved me again from another dealer repair. I can only imagine what it’d cost to have them troubleshoot this and how many back and forth a it may have been.

I am having the same issue, all the lights on. I had a wheel hub disintegrate on the passenger front and it broke the sensor. I replaced the sensor today and all the lights are still on. Checked for codes on the OBD II with zero codes found. Checked the wiring no knicks or cuts. Now I’m lost can can’t find an answer.

 

have you reset the ABS codes via the pin jump method?

 

I'm having this same issue on a 3rd gen with my front left ABS wire, I checked the wheel sensor harness and it's not getting power. I want to be sure the issue isn't coming from the next wire harness up that connects from the ABS/wheel sensor wire harness and goes in behind the grill, as I stretched both while lifting the truck. The issue is that I have been unable to get the harness loose at the upper portion to check the first section for power. I see one tab on the left of the harness, I am pressing it down and pulling and wiggling but it will not come loose. Any tips?

 

Hi all - I was able to test the wire that runs from the S22 connection near the differential to the front of the truck and confirmed continuity. However, I am not sure how to test the harness side. Do I test it from the s22 connector towards the rear brake and abs connector?? Or do I reconnect the harness at s22 and then disconnect the harness wire near the abs sensor / brake and test it there? I attempted to test the rear harness from the s22 connector but couldn't get the right angle and wasn't cure if I had the probes in the right place. I attempted to disconnect and lower the harness so I could see things better but got stopped by a rust bolt. Thanks everyone for the input.

 

Leave the harness by the diff plugged in. Unclip your sensor and probe for voltage at the connector to the sensor. With the ignition on you should be getting voltage near 12V. Make sure to test both sides. If your voltage is good at both connectors then you most likely have a bad sensor. You’ll need a scanning tool that can read the ABS module to know how which side is throwing an error code.

Have these all lit up on my dash. Had my buddy read the code and it said driver rear wheel speed sensor. Replaced that and lights still on. Replaced harness and lights still on.

I had no problems until I backed down my driver and the garbage can was under the truck that cracked the wheel speed sensor. I’m wondering if something else broke in the bearing that the sensor goes into?
What is that part called?
