Just because he didnt love it doesnt mean his wife wouldnt...and they're are plenty of reasons they are "romanticized" around here just like tacomas are.

I thought OP said his wife didn’t like 4Runners in his second post...

    This is awesome!

OP’s question: Which truck would be easier/cheaper to "murder out"?

1st response: Modding the interior should be virtually identical.

Everyone else: Get a different vehicle!

    I love you guys!

:rofl:I’d love a Tacoma forum where the Tacoma is romanticized! Can you send me a link? Cause this place ain’t it it. The 4Runner is absolutely romanticized for no good reason around here. Much like the Tacoma, it’s an amazing vehicle and I’d never buy anything but one of the two. But the idea that it’s somehow superior to the Tacoma is really, really silly and often perpetuated around here. Meanwhile people complain about every little nitpick for the Tacoma on here. OP, your wife loves the Tacoma. That’s what she should get.

That is correct... She didn’t care for mine when we had it.

My wife knows what she wants and she’s not your typical female/wife. She’s the cool one that don’t mind getting dirty working on my truck with me and will tell you the dead honest truth in a heartbeat. Love her for that and I would do anything in this world for her to make her smile, and if it means getting her a Tacoma and modding it out, that’s what she is getting.

I blame the 3rd gen section, prior to it was not this way, and yes there are more silly complaining or "dumbgeon" threads than other threads but there are plenty of build threads, what did you do to your Tacoma today threads, just passed 170k mile threads, etc. I mean the sheer size of this community and forum indicates a clear love for the Taco. Yes the 4Runner gets a percieved better build quality rep, but have you owned one? GF had one for the 2 years we dated and I'll say the fit and finish was better than any of my 11 Tacomas. Mind you they are still manufactured in Japan. So yes there is some love for them here and given their solidness good reason, just like the love for the frame rusted 1st gens with 300k miles. The 1GR in the T4R is a solid engine with a long standing reputation.

my wife daily drives a Mustang GT and drives my 19 Limited about once a month. Every time she drives the truck, I ask her how it went and if she liked the truck and she always says she loves it....

Well there you go. And I think most of us said do what makes you and her happy, just offered some opinions and suggestions, especially when having $80k in vehicles parked in the driveway.

But see that’s the thing, do a search over on the 4Runner forums and there are plenty of complaints about rattles, quirks etc. And the over the top love for rusted out 1st Gens IS a little silly too.

The Camry she has is just as much as a fully loaded Taco, but yes I agree. Was just wondering if anyone had experience murdering out a limited inside and out. I have the TRD OR so I know what that would take.

A black Sport isn’t an option? Seem like it would have the most black.

Not too hard, I mean the easiest trim to murder out is the SR (no chrome vent rings, no chrome door handles, no chrome grille, etc.) but then you don't get all the frills. With Meso's kit it wouldnt be too hard along with some creativeness for the vents, door handles, etc. The rear lights are pretty chromatrocious for the 2020s which you can address with the TRD Pros or prior years non chrome trimmed. Any thought to a black 2020 TRD pro?...

I dont know, my 2001 had over 250k miles when I sold it and was solid, I don't expect to get the same out of my 3rd gen. And yes any forum you are gonna get more complaints than anything else.

I don't know why they even sell Tacoma's , they should just sell 4Runners with a trailer option .

The Pro isn’t needed for her and I was looking into a lift for mine, so the Pro would have been a waste of money for me.

Might just text my salesman to see what he can come up with on a limited to just check out the amount of chrome.

A sport is gonna be a better option for dechroming and probably cheaper. Limited has chrome galore on the outside you'll have to deal with (handles, mirror caps, fog bezels, limited badge, etc.), sport does not, can save time and money there and both can have the same options as far as tech/prem packaging, plus skewp!
