For the last few months I have experienced a clunking sound coming from front passenger. Only happens when going over decent sized bumps such as speed bumps. There is a speed bump in my condo complex that makes the clunk every time I go over it, always turning right over it so my passenger side hits first causing the clunk. My passenger wheel bearing was recently replaced and I also got an alignment done the same day but it still persists. I have seen reports that the body mount could be a cause or the sway bar. Any ideas on what I should try to either pin point the clunk or try to make it stop? I may try to torque the lca bolt to 100 ft/lbs, but I don't know if my torque wrench is accurate that high.

I just took my truck in for the same thing. Sway bar was loose in my case. Find the “zip tie mod” thread and see if that can fix it for ya

Some on Tacomaworld are saying strut mounts, loose spindle bolts, loose skid plate, etc.

Been to a mechanic twice in my instance to fix my sounds (like the video) to no avail. Good luck finding an answer.

I do hear a metallic clunk sometimes that I have attributed to the passenger side of my skid plate. One of the brackets or something doesn't have any rubber between it and if I hit the skid plate in that spot it makes a metallic clunk. But the noise in question seems to be more of a suspension clunk or something.

Are you referencing the zip tie in the steering column mod, or a zip tie for sway bar? I have done the zip tie mod for the steering column and that helped out a lot off road for my steering wheel clunk.

I had this same problem with mine a while back. LCA bolts were not torqued enough. I put a cheater on a 1/2" ratchet and tightened them until it felt like I would stretch the bolts if I went any more. I know, not scientific but it's been fine for several months now.
    It's one possibility.

    Too few to list.
I think the service manual list the torque specs to the LCA bolts to only 100 ft lbs. Anymore then you're probably stretching them out.

yeah, sorry zip tie for the steering column. That can narrow the search for the problem since you already did that one. Good luck !

if its a sway bar bushing or sway bar link, try rocking the truck by grabbing the roof (window down) and push/pull, if you hear it clunking, someone can listen/look while someone else keeps rocking the truck, lot easier to track the sound vs driving and listening

i had a similar clunk that would happen in similar conditions. ended up being the trans cross brace needed to be tighten a bit more. its only at 30lbft and was flexing when hitting bumps at an angle.

I have a weird sound like that coming from my driver side, I took my truck in last year with the same sound and the tech found my body mount bolt was loose. Currently its to cold for me to investigate it right now but I will be looking into that next week. Might want to check yours. Anyone else having issues with body mounts coming loose in extreme cold?

Think I actually fixed this today! Replaced the sway bar bushings with energy suspension bushings. Clunk seems to have disappeared.

I had a similar clunk due to loose spindle bolts.
