I had forgotten that the turn signals/hazards share the same bulb as the reverse

    hi @MESO,
I put on my stage 2 kit only about two weeks ago (was away for vacation), and it is not properly lighting up and is misbehaving. :(
On the driver side tail light, I only see the top corner lit and bottom corner (but lower intensity) lighting up. Can't tell if the top light is bleeding into the bottom half and giving me the impression that both are lit.
On the passenger side tail light, only the bottom corner is lighting up.
At the time when I installed they where fine.
I didn't get time to take them off again and test if the bulb went bad or if the connections are wrong? I thought there is only way the connectors can be connected, and that I couldn't mess it up.
The reverse lights and turn lights work fine.
Here are some pictures, though it's hard to tell from them, it's best i could do with my bad camera.
See pics below, in below picture, the brakes are stepped ON and engine is OFF. It lights the same way even if the head lights are ON and engine is ON.

Got home late last night and found my resistors waiting for me. Thanks, Meso! Debating installing them this morning in the cold/dark, but may wait until lunch.

ETA: Installed, hyperflash gone. All is well.

My OEM connectors were weak. The bulb would fall out on washboard roads, i had to bend the metal contacts out to give more resistance to the bulb.

I installed a Stage 1 kit last night in my 2018 SR. Everything works well. I have always preferred an orange turn signal.
    Very well-built kit, quick shipping.

I had pretty much the same problem with mine albeit 6 months after insall. You can see a few pages back. I had one red bulb illuminating but not getting brighter when the brake pedal was depressed. Turned out to be a bad bulb.

Thats somewhat comforting. I can reconcile with replacing a bad bulb. Although my stock bulbs never burned out in the past 4 years, surprised this newer, more expensive and advanced tech bulb failed just two weeks into using it. Not one, but two of them on both sides?

I hear ya. You can do exactly what I did and just take off the housings, and swap the assumed bad bulbs with the good in the harness sockets, and if they react the same way in the other socket, you'll know the bulb(s) is the culprit.

Do you by chance have any idea which bulb and where I should buy two from in case my bulb has indeed fused/gone bad? I don't have the spec/info of the stage two bulbs.

@MESO should help you out with replacement bulbs. He's a stand up guy like that.

^^^^THIS. I reached out to MESO when I had this problem asking if there was anything that could be done, and if not I was happy to purchase a new bulb from VLED since I've had my kit for so long. MESO had a bulb shipped out to me before I could even respond to his message. Got it in less than two days. His customer service is on point.

One of the wires is out of the center harness connector on the light side. @MESO what do I need to do other than send an email.

First off, I am new to all this and suspect I am probably doing something out of keeping with the way this forum operates so please excuse beginner ignorance. I Just ordered a Stage 1 kit but wonder if I should order/need some load resistors? After I placed the order I noticed something the Stage 1 Kit contents listed on Meso's site differ from some earlier Youtube installation videos. I was particularly impressed watching his ingenious pig-tail solution to include load resistors as part of the switchback bulb harness; not keen on splicing them into the OEM wiring. However, from the list of things included in the kit, there doesn't appear to be any load resistors...are they not needed for the installation? I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport with aftermarket LED headlight/fog bulbs (SV.4) and front LED turn signal bulbs (no resistors, Carbide Canbus 2.0 ). Will there be hyperflash problems if the Stage 1 Kit is installed without resistors?

Update 28/01/2020: My Stage 1 Kit arrived last week, I installed it, rolled the dice and....hyperflash! Contacted Stew and he shipped some resistors the next day. Just installed with the resistors and I have to say, this Stage 1 Kit is awesome, so much better than stock (Toyota should pay attention). Everything works great now, very happy with this mod. The kit design is well thought out, quality built, simple to install (plug and play) and works really well; and customer service at Meso is above and beyond, really impressed start to finish...thanks @MESO!!

Honestly, probably. But in mesos experience, it's hit n miss. So if u develop hyperflash, email him and he'll get your sorted lickety split.

It doesn't have them anymore. Simple plug and play. It only hyperflashes if you have the turn signal on while in reverse.

After installing my Stage 1 the other night, I now see that I have hyper flashing with my right turn signal, but the left flashes normally.
Waiting for a response from Meso on it.
It is so much better than the dumb red red red that Toyota has as OEM. :)

As to Hyperflash, it is absolutely vehicle to vehicle. My truck is a 2019 and had it in all modes, not just reverse.
As to getting the resistors if you need them, Instant Message Meso here on the board (I think it is called "start a conversation")
Include your order number. He will get them out to you.

Honestly, I like them so much I drove around with the hyper flash and preferred THAT over stock. I have the resistors installed and I am now 100%.

OK- I will do that. Wasn't sure about exactly the best way to do it.
