I did not like the fact that they were some no name Chinese junk on my front end that if failed while say on the interstate would be a HUGE safety issue and concern. Plus I dont like not being able to find ball joints from literally only 1 source. The JBA arms work with there redesigned ball joint but I could also get moog or chevy ball joints that fit not problem. I dont think anyone should cheap out on something as important as UCAs for there and others safety

I haven't heard of any of these failing. Even with other vehicle makes and models. Stock up on the balljoints when you buy it.

They seem sound to me. Good welds and most of my commute is rough terrain. Not to say it would be my first choice but after dropping 5k in the last month on the truck, saving a few hundred at the moment was personally a good idea for me.

Different strokes for different folks! I will be upgrading soon anyways.

It appears those are made by Moog as they look exactly the same and practically share the same P/N (Detroit Axle: K621475 (LH) & K621474 (RH) / Moog: RK621475 (LH) & RK621474 (RH)). I just installed some Moogs on mine, although now I'm thinking I should've went with Mevotech instead but we'll see. Hopefully they'll be fine for daily driving usage.

For all you guys running JBAs. Are you guys running the STD or the HD model? JBA told me ill be fine with the STD model. its a 2.5'' lifted daily driver, and will only go offroad occasionally, light to moderate trails.

Just curious if you think the HDs ae really worth the extra money.. im trying to make up my mind.

Is anyone with Tacoma's having issues with JBA's contacting the coils on full extension/down travel?

This is happening on 4Runners and GX460's, and was only pointed out to me yesterday. The silver coils are Toytec's on 5100s, and the other parts are Dobinsons LT GS59-574 struts with C59-302 coils. It appears to me that the radius of the place where the ball joint mounts isn't cleared out enough for the longer struts.

Is this an issue on Tacoma's as well?

To me that would seem like a strut thats way too long at extension if that were a 4x4 truck id be worried about CV angles binding.

That's what I thought at first too, but there are 10's of thousands of 4Runners running 5100's.

Just get the regular STD man, especially if that's all you're doing.

I've had this issue many times. I bet the internal limiter has broken off the shaft on the 5100. Thats the only thing that stops down travel and a very weak part of the shock.

Edit: makes an f'ing mess when it comes apart

Also @Crikeymike you should think about possibly adding a limit strap to take that hard drop out off the shock

Jesus!!! And this has happened many times to you?

How is the end of the shaft held on in those 5100's? The Dobinsons twin tube has a threaded end with a nut locked in place at the end to hold the bottom of it all together.
