Look what they had at the Toyota dealer today!

 

One time when I got a loaner car, I found a condom (albeit unused) under the seat. This time, I found a death certificate in the loaner car!

 

While I was doing DoorDash last night, my only order of the evening brought me to a truly rare find in this area...

An apartment complex with traditional split-system central A/C and gas heat!

 

Actually, traditional split-systems are not terribly rare in my area, but gas heat definitely is! Most apartments in my area have heat pumps or electric baseboard heat...

I finally got new drawers made for the kitchen, you will be happy to know they used dovetail joints.

 

Nice! You gonna do granite or quartz countertops at some point?

 

I got a smokin' deal on those drawers, had them custom built in PA. I am not sure about countertops at this point as everything is costing me more than I expected and have many other things to do yet.

So, the dealer opened up the rear brakes and lubed them for free. They stated that everything was in good condition and my truck would pass state inspection with flying colors.

Unfortunately, the squeak is still there, but it now comes and goes with a lot more frequency.

I was doing DoorDash tonight, and I almost missed my exit. While I was getting off the 611 bypass, I had to hit the brakes. I had my window down, and the screech was very pronounced...

However, it abruptly went away; It didn’t just gradually go way, it just stopped!

I think something is rubbing against something that the dealer can’t find!

 

Whatcha thinking?

 

Both sets of shoes were replaced after the rear axle seal blew in September-October 2019.

 

They are the same brand/model, yes...

 

What do you think is a fair price for rear brakes?

Also, the truck was doing this same thing BEFORE I had the rear brakes replaced. I got the rear brakes replaced for the first time in June 2018, by my body guy who is also a mechanic. I forget if those were OEM or aftermarket, but those brakes were great! They did not start making noise until September or October 2019, when the rear axle seal blew.

I think the rear axle seal was just a coincidence.

 

I was thinking this too, maybe they used semi-metallic shoes.

 

It honestly sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard...
